    Wait until gas hits $5.00+ a gallon. That is why I have two cars. My Corolla XRS and my Tundra.

    I have found keeping the screen on that shows the MPG helps me keep my foot out of it.

    I checked my MPG's right after I purchased the '07 when I took it on a road trip to Indianapolis, this was before I had made any performance modifications except for lowering the bed. I had a big heavy crash bar on the front, tow mirrors and no bed cover. I averaged 16 to 19 MPG depending on speed. 19 MPG under 75MPH, 16 MPG above 75 MPH (sustained average highway speeds). That was the last time I calculated MPG's.

    I need to repeat that trip and see if my performance mods improved the road trip MPG's, I think the lighter wheels & tires, performance air filter, Dirty Deeds exhaust, DAP tune, standard mirrors, the bed cover, and the lack of a heavy crash bar out front would give me at least 1 extra MPG.

    This is my daily driver and it doesn't get great mileage on short trips around town, but I didn't buy it for it's fuel economy, so I can't complain.

    Not always an option for folks but this is a great idea. Keep the truck nice and for its purpose. Use the Corolla for those garbage miles.

    If electric ever became cheap enough I'd use it for my sub 20 miles I drive daily.

    Interesting though,

    Anyone attempted to lower the suspension and add front air damp. Also, there are a lot of turbulence under the frame. Adding *underbody panels that make it flat from front to back like they do on Prius, sports cars, and electric vehicles.

    I would think there could be a decent increase.

    Not to mention, it won't affect gas mileage in any way, shape or form.

    Gas mileage is what it is. Which is, it sucks. People should know that before buying one, it's no secret.

    I only fill up my tank about every 3 months. (maybe) Because I get excellent gas mileage in my Tundra!

    Its the 3 gas & 1 diesel Rig(s) that I drive daily that cost more! lol

    *Actually the Harley & the 7.3 liter Diesel get the best mileage.

    lol. Believe it or not, I did these with the exception of airing down tires. MPG actually improved and so is driveability. This is probably due to the torque converter staying locked a lot longer than when the truck is light. That's just how Toyota programmed the ecu--I guess. I did this on my 2007 RCSB 4x2, and now on my 2010 Crewmax 4x4. From my experience, this is the sweet spot. The weight I use is 500-600. I've put 800 lbs on my Crewmax on numerous occasions when it's windy or rainy. I use S mode all the time with Tow/Haul.

    I didn't do this initially to increase mpg, but to make the ride nice, planted and stable. It's was the bad roads around the place where I used to work.

    Interesting. What do you use? Sand, gravel? What happens to all the ballast when you need to actually use the bed?

    Looked for 'sand tubes' at my local HD but they don't stock them here in central TX :(

    I'm just trying to figure out were my MPG is going, I understand the first lost after some things I did but now almost every 2 weeks I get worse an worse MPG for really no reason. If I continue to go down at this rate. In 12 weeks my truck will consume gas by sitting parked. I'm getting 8MPG now witch is driving me crazy. Any Ideas of were to start ?

    In mode 6 every thing looks right and in operational range. Sooooo o_O

    If want better mpg with 34's, trade the tundra for a gmc at4 with the 3.0 duramax.
    Regearing may get you a mpg or 2 back on your tundra but it's really not worth the cost of gears plus labor
