IMG_6009.jpg IMG_6008.jpg One my first tank for my new 2019 1794 5.7 4x4 and I got less than 180 miles for the first half tank on a 38 gallon tank. That is way below the average in city mpg. I'm I panicking too soon?

I haven't towed just typical driving. Window sticker, dealer and VIN all show 38 gallon tank but it's performing like the smaller gas tank.

The driving habit possible reasons from the dealership don't explain away this poor performance.

    Thoughts?

The reserve on these is about 11 gallons, so half tank mark is more like 14 or so gallons.

Well that is good to hear. I guess I'll actually use the first full tank and see. Kinda of freaked me out a bit. Thanks

Yes I know but I didn't buy it for 9mpg either. I'm use to 12mpg.

I was getting 10-16mpg on the highway with costco gas on a 200mile ride. I tried Chevron on the way back and off the bat was getting 17+mpg. My truck loves Chevron.

If it’s the first tank dealers never fill up all the way , secondly lot of idling and demo might have happened also. Gradually it should go up. My first tank filled by dealer was showing DTE 360 miles. Now I am getting about 17.5 mpg avg over 20 k miles.

Half way is usually 15 gallons for me, cost me $45 the last fill up (a little below half) @2.93 gallon Costco. When filled up, I get an estimated 440 miles. So half of that is 200'ish mostly city/stop&go driving 7 miles each way back-from work.

my MPG was low to start, but has gone up considerably, give it a little time.. I'm up to 7,500 miles on my 19' and I'm getting right around 15 mpg with a lot of city stop and go driving.

Agreed, the engines start out pretty tight and it takes at least a few thousand miles to get all shook out and properly broken in. My mileage went up for a while until around 16.8. Then came the lift and tires and now back down to around 14

I get 13 with city stop and go traffic. I’m a double cab 2wd. So lighter than a crewmax 4wd.

I have 6500 miles on the Tundra and it gets 17 - 19 on the highway, 15 city and 12 towing the horse trailer. Filled up the other day just after the fuel light came on and it took 30 gallons so when its on E I have 8 gallons left. Overall the Tundra does just as good fuel economy wise as my 07 GMC did and it had 4 cyl deactivation and used a quart of oil ever 4k. GM told me that was within specs. That's crazy I thought it had a problem. It also why I have a Tundra now instead of a 19 GMC.

I started out getting around 12MPG. Now, with 8,600 miles on it, the MPG is over 13. Maybe it’ll get a little better. Maybe not. Don’t care. Love my Tundra!

I average between 11 and 13, mostly all city driving. It's gone as low as 9 with too much idling in the heat.

The fuel economy is the one thing about the truck that's awful, but pretty much all big trucks are like that so it is what it is. We all knew that going in.

I drove to Florida from SE PA over 4th of July and was happy with my MPG's.
When I left the house it was on a full tank and made it to SC border and the MPG's on the DIC was 18.5 (28 gallons fill up). Then I ran down to just below Savannah GA and stayed the night and the MPG's were about the same.
Headed to my buddy's in Mt Dora, Fl the next day for a day then headed down to Port St Lucie on the Florida TP avg 20 mpg's for the tank. There was traffic and I pretty much went 65 most of the way but hell I was happy I wasn't getting 15 mpg's like I did in my '07 F150.

Around town with short trips and a lot of stop and go I avg about 11.5 mpg's.

The way I drive I dont even look at it.

But I knew this going in.

Best way to get good gas mileage is to buy a roller skate.
