Welcome all. This is my build thread for my new to me 2000 RCLB. I've only got the one picture for now, but there will be more to come later on.

    20210823_124434.jpg

This cost me $3,300 from a private seller. Below is a quote from the what have you done thread. It details all the little items wrong with it that I hope to be able to fix. I will be leaning heavily on some of you as I've never done anything on a 4WD truck before.
    More to come.

Editing in a directory to get to the important bits to skip all the chatter. (If that's your thing...)

Nice frame? You could easily flip it for double what you paid.

So now you’re up to 3 vehicles? Two Tundras and a Corolla?

The frame appears to be in better shape than mine when I started on it. It does have some surface rust, but that's to be expected with a 21 year old truck. It all looked fairly decent which is why I went ahead and picked it up.

I'm still chewing on flipping it, but I know how hard these are to come by. I have a feeling once I tear into it, it won't be leaving. I need something capable of towing a travel camper later on down the road of life a ways. Something small.

Yes, the build thread for the Tundra can be found here, and the corolla build thread can be found here for future peoples that want to check them out.

Meh, it's just an extra box, a short shaft and a few electronic bits. You'll do fine.

On that note, what's the deal with no 4WD engage. Light just flash green when you push the 4HI button at an acceptable speed? Flash and beep?

RCLB is a tough find these days! Don't flip it! Unless you need the cash. In which case, sell it to my neighbor, he's hunting one to haul stuff for his new brewery. I'm sure he'd give you a good $7k for it if you get the WP/TB done with tensioners and new serpentine. Small investment to get a solid ROI.

    My man!

Always buy. Never sell. Value will only increase. This is a real truck. Big engine, small cab, no back seat. How trucks were intended.

Thanks for the vote of confidence @shifty`. I'm honestly a little nervous about it.

Nothing happens when you press the 4HI button. It (the button) goes in, and clicks which I don't think it's supposed to do. I thought it was a push button that returned when you pressed it. No beeps either.

4HI light on the dash, and on the button were flashing when I test drove it. I was on Tarmac so I didn't try to disengage or engage while in motion. Didn't try 4Lo just in case it didn't disengage. Wanted to get it home first and not crawl 78 miles to the house.

Anytime it's on its flashing. I'll have to start reading up on it as I've always skimmed 4WD posts as it never applied to me before. Which is why I'll be leaning heavily on some of you all.

I’m willing to bet the 4wd actuators just need to be cleaned out of crap and corrosion to get it working again.

    ONE OF US!

4x4 issue is going to be an acutator more than likely. tapping the actuators while trying to engage 4x4 can tell you which one.. lately its been transfer case actuators.. theye $700 new from the dealer. but AISIN sells them for 300-400 online. can be done without pulling the whole transfer case apart

Headlights look cherry. No driver front fender flare? Almost looks cleaner that way. How do the tails look? Need more photos.

Noah, can you pull back the timing cover and check out the belt? I would probably do that before driving it again, just to be safe. The passenger side is the easiest.

I hope its something easy like this. I'm willing to do whatever is necessary within my ability to get it all fixedums.

    One of y'all!

I'll give that a shot when I get home from work depending on how I feel.

This is quality info right here. Cheers!

Headlights are TYC I think. I glanced at them since they were new looking. Unsure on turns. Drivers reverse light is busted so I'll replace that with one on hand from the rebuild of my other truck. More photos can and will come tomorrow.

Ditto, and in addition to the reduced risk of counterfeit, if you sign up for their catalogs, every couple months they send you catalogs with 5-20% coupon codes, also usually have coupon codes around major national holidays, which put you well below A-Zon prices. If you have one semi-local like me, pickup is super easy. Returns super easy. Shipping is usually fast and cheap, good packing. Highly recommend.

Our winters are typically mild except for once in a while. We had a big snow storm (For here) this past February. May be a year or two before y'all get to see any snowsiums.

Bumpers look nice. Some bruises on the passenger side? Strange that no fender flares up front but both in the back are there.
