What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

yea I tried doing rear shocks today too with my bushings. Realized I need a nut splitter for the passenger side since the nut is seized. Damn these old trucks are fun

 

That’s always rough. Can’t be worse than the LCA bushing sleeve!

What I’m doing requires custom fitting. Haha

 

You can also cut the shock shaft below the mount area near the top.

 

When in doubt cut it out lol

 

I also blame energy suspensions instructions as they only show one washer on the rack

 

Have used tube on an end of mechanics ears careful not to get caught in belt or fan to help diagnose where the noise is coming from if only when engine running.

 

Yep. This ^^^. Super fast, easy, and safe to check when motor not running.

 

Don't feel bad, had I not known an eclipse was going on I would have thought it was just slightly overcast. It wasn't that dramatic at all.

This thing has been so handy, and not just on my truck.

 

I may have to snag one of these. The noise started up again this morning. I noticed it doesn't start right away. It takes 15-20 seconds. Or try @shifty` method of spinning each pulley.

 

I spent 30 minutes just listening (with the solid stick) under the hood. I think my wife thought i lost my mf mind. Used the cone for honing in on my exhaust manifold leak. Yep, pretending I don't hear it for now

 

My HS auto shop teacher used a long screwdriver held up against his ear as a stethoscope.

 

Is it though?

 

My dad does the same and he used to fix cars for a living.

 

This works! I did it once to determine my alternator pulley had a bad bearing.

 

I’ve used it as well.

Custom shock relocation. It feels like a completely different truck. This should hold me over until I go SUA. Now time to get the front LT kit sorted.

Do a burnout. See if you get axle hop.

dont. Pretty sure even a weak 4.7 will break axles.

 

This truck does not like burnouts on 305's even before the shocks haha.

 

Did the newer trucks get traction control? And if so, can it be shut off? The titans cant be shut off, but it doesnt kill power, just jiggles the brakes & can be powered through.

 

Knowing toyota the vvti trucks probably have it, but I do not. nor do I harness the ability to roast tires without great effort haha.
