This thread has a ton of really good data and experience in it. My truck is a 2wd and now I’m really wondering what springs my icons have. My truck has always ridden way too hard. If I have 650’s I’ll be glad to step down to 600 with my lower weight

These are the different part numbers not sure it indicates the spring rate but could be wrong

Wouldn’t make sense that they use different spring rates depending on the reservoir. The spring is to hold up the truck and the truck weighs the same

Adrian, what springs are 286911? That’s the only markings I see on my coilovers

Stock springs on the 58650 are 600lbs.

I emailed Icon about this exact question yesterday, below is the response I got. Both the 58650's and the 58750's use a 600lb spring and *should* net you 3-3.5" at max preload. Now, I have been doing a ton of research before I drop $4k + on a suspension and given what I have read I'm not going to risk needing to redo and deal with warranty claims. I'm sure it was just a handful of people that dealt with well below advertised lift, but I'm not willing to risk having to deal with that process.

I need to call and verify, but from what I have read the Fox 2.5 coilovers use a 700lb spring and offer a 0-2" lift version or 3" lift version that requires UCA's. At this point I'm planning to go with the Fox 2.5 3" version when I do my suspension down the road.

I would have asked if they knew about the Eibach spring issue that affected their coilovers.

If fox uses a 700 lbs spring that would explain why a few guys have gotten a ton of lift out of their Fox coilovers lately

So I just called Fox to verify. The 0-2" version use a 16" 600lb spring, and the 3" lift version use a 17" 700lb spring. He said that a lot of the feedback they have received matches what I have been reading here, people are experiencing a good deal more that than 3" advertised lift. Which honestly is kind of good know that you won't have to max out if you want a solid 3.5" of lift.

@JNorman84 was nice enough to indulge me in answering some questions around his setup yesterday. And while he didn't take before measurements it certainly looks like he's getting more that 3" on his setup while running 20" wheels.

After installing my 58650’s yesterday I’m getting 2inches out of them at max preload (2 inches thread showing).
Not stoked, I’m going to contact Icon on Monday to see how we can get this resolved.
As stated before I have absolutely no weight up front.

Ask if they are aware of the Eibach spring issue. This is obviously effecting their coilovers as well.

Yeah it does suck, getting some tire rub now at full lock with the 35,s I had on.
Ordering the RXT soon so hopefully Icon will send me the 700lb coils and I will swap them out when I do the rear install.

Is all this eibach spring issue fixed? I'm close to ordering icons, but reading several threads about this makes me wonder if I need to wait. I'd like to get 2 3/4 - 3 inches of lift. Are the 600 pound springs not up to the task? I spoke with icon today and they claim they are set at 2 inches and can be adjusted for 3 if I wanted. They said if I wanted a 700 pound spring, I'd have to buy eibach springs and have them installed.

From my recent experience, the 600lb springs were nowhere near getting me 3” and I had a stock truck. Ended up returning my icons, got Fox 2.5s, and never looked back.

I’ve been debating this for a few weeks. They do not recommend using 700lb springs with the higher end stages. Because you loose adjustability

Icon doesn’t seem to want to remedy the spring issue. I luckily got them the give me the 700lb eibach springs but everyone else has been fighting with them. I would look elsewhere if they won’t give you the advertised height.

Eibach is a spring manufacturer for ICON but the springs are made to ICON's specs and are different than their standard production coils.

There seems to be a lot of misinformation regarding springs. The principles that apply for Tacoma/4Runner/FJ coilovers do not cross over directly to the Tundra platform. A 700lb spring will not give you more lift than our production coil spring unless you adjust it past the max recommended thread showing, this can also be done with the production coil provided. Hence the reason there is no production ICON 07+ Tundra coilover with a different coil spring. The coil was designed to provide the best performance possible for the vehicle.

It's becoming more apparent to the general public that there are differences in the vehicle from the factory. The differences are being accounted for and the changes (if any) that may need to be done will be thoroughly tested and researched before a product update happens. To go beyond the max thread recommendation you can use a bump stop spacer to prevent coil bind.

I spoke with @sdhq_offroad about this issue and opted to go with a 700lb spring, and bump stop spacer kit. I'm not looking to go past 3 inches simply looking to maintain the lift I did accumulate along with the added weight of a winch and a plate bumper. Is this what the 700lb spring will do for me? Also, what is recommended preload for the 700lb spring? How many threads?

700lb spring should have 1” of thread showing. 600lb has a 2” limit. But as stated above, they are allowing customers to go past those limits now.

Are there any updates on this from Icon? I purchased the 58750 and they sit about 1.75 inches of lift on my 2013 CM 5.7 at factory settings.

I had planned for over 3 years to go with icon, but after all the threads on the spring trouble, I ended up going with Elka. Unlike the most rear suspension with reservoirs and adjusters, Elka's rear suspension works with up to a 2 inch rear lift. The company has finally settled on a 700 pound spring for the front coilovers, giving 2-3 inches of lift. I believe they offer a lower spring rate if you want less than 2 inches of front lift. The springs are not eibach, they are Elka's manufactured spring. Here is a very good thread on them if anyone is interested. However, the thread is from a first production run. Since, they have made some changes to dial in what tundra owners were asking for. I just found them unique to what's currently out there and a perfect fit for me.

No they are not rectifying the situation with their springs. Just saying that results will vary and to crank them past the 2” point with use of bump stop extensions.

Did this ever get solved? I was about to order some Icon's, but am nervous about pulling the trigger now. I'd like ~2.5" out of the front, but don't want to max out my preload to get it.

Hopefully it did. They were in denial about the issue. At least toytec admitted the issue.
