I had these installed yesterday along with the rear shocks. There is no way to get 3 inches of lift without going past the 2” thread limit. Are the springs too short? There was basically no load on the springs in the first inch of threading. Don’t feel like paying for bigger springs to get there.

I was looking for information last night and saw a lot of people with the same issues. Why are they labeled 0-3.5” then? I had to go over about 1/3” to get it to just shy of 3 inches to clear my tires. Didn’t want to trim the wells anymore because these Coilovers don’t do what they say they’re going to do.

How bad is it to go past the thread limit?

You can go up to 2.5" of adjustment between the lower portion of the cap and the top of the adjustment collar before you start binding the coil spring.

Icon instructions and Adrian the icon rep on here said 2” is the max. So I’ll assume that the warranty would be void if something happened with it set over. Just trying to see what others have them set at or how they are getting to 3-3.5”

I won't open up a can of worms or debate on this from adjustment perspective, but I've spoken to a few folks from Icon and I've been running my setup with no issues and mashing on the truck without any coil issues. I would follow the instructions from warranty perspective, if that's what it indicates.

Im getting mine installed this Thursday. Forgot who I spoke to from Icon but he said it’ll depend on if your a crewmax 4x4 or DC. I have a DC 4x2... he told me I should get to 3 inches before I hit the 2 inch max. Crossing my fingers. I’ll update when installed Thursday.

    @LT75
I recommend taking a second look at the alignment. Alignment and wheel offset/backspacing are critical when clearing larger tires.
    Here is a an example:
315/70R17 clearing on vehicle with the coil over completely removed & proper alignment.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fK2y9NcqpYg
(Icon 6 Speed & Icon 58560DJ Upper Control Arms)

It seems to be commonly accepted that max tire size is strictly based on lift height over stock. However, if the tire fits with out interference @ full compression and full lock when the shock is removed you have the ability to adjust your coil overs anywhere with in the allowable rage of the spring.

The springs are not strong enough. I need the 700lb springs. At the 2” limit you set I only got 1.8” of lift. There was no preload on those springs in the first inch of tightening. Talking with support now about swapping them out. Support called the shop. They even said that something is wrong. Not too happy right now. These were supposed to be better than using spacers. Fit fine with 3” spacers before this. Hopefully support will be easy to work with.

I apologize for the trouble. Since you and your shop are already in communication with each other I will remain on standby so's not to interfere with that process.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
    Thank you.

Thank you. I know there are 3 more people on here looking at installing these too. Got pm’s asking how this is going. The 700lb spring will work and I think should be standard for a 4x4 crewmax.

They are coming this week. So I should hopefully have them on by this weekend. Unless I wait for the total chaos UCA group buy.

A heaver spring would be required to achieve the max lift height with the added weight of a plate bumper & winch.

Approximately $150ea spring. It's a common spring that can be sourced through many of the dealers in our network.

This is for the 2.5's, right? Do they have 700lb springs for the 3.0's yet?

That is correct, 2.5 Series coil over (3"ID) springs. There is not a 700lb option for a 3-5/8th ID spring in the dimensions required.

I was told yes but it would take 7-8 weeks to build them.

There is not a production part number for an HD coil spring for the 07+ Tundra.
There are several dealers that offer a heavier rate spring as an option. When requested the regular coil is removed and swapped for a heavier spring by that dealer.

Well my 700lb spring is installed. At the 2 inch thread mark it raised it 4 inches. So we lowered it a little bit. I don’t know how that old spring was so bad on a new Coilover. We only got 1.75 inches of lift at the 2 inch thread mark with no weight on the front.

what size spring would be required to replace the coil over on the icon? I have seen many 3.0" ID springs, but at different lengths. Any recommendation? I am looking at adding the 58650’s to my '18 tundra with an ARB Summit bumper and WARN VS125 winch.

Just my two cents... but wouldn’t it be better to get a longer 600 lb spring? 700s are stiff unless you have a lot of weight or you are romping the hell out of it. At least that’s how I feel about it. Now that I have a kiddo the 600s are going back on.

You dont get spring bind or slap with the 16s? I have swapped 4runner and tacoma Icons to 700lbs springs but always used 14s. Do you remember how long your original Icon springs were?

The Icon Tundra coilovers use a 16” spring. I was getting bind with the original springs.

My 700lb springs were purchased straight from Icon. They can be found a lot cheaper but I needed them the same day and Icon is up the street from my work.

Stock icon 600lb springs were way too soft for me. Under 2” of lift at the 2” thread mark. Had to go further down and it still drove like a Lincoln town car. 700lb springs they replaced under warranty are way better.
