Upwards of 200k-1M nowadays. Especially as litigious as people are these days. Insurance like USCCA is imperative if you pack heat.

Us Law shield for the after shooting nonsense here. Hopefully will remain a way to spend money to feel good and not have actual use.

Nope, self-defense only in case I walk up on someone messing with my truck and they threaten me. AOJP - Ability, Opportunity, Jeopardy, Preclusion.

I am a former professional firearms instructor and I used the shark tank example on use of force.

If you dropped your phone into a tank of hungry sharks would you go in and try to retrieve it.

How about if your child fell in.

If it isn't worth dying for then it isn't worth killing for.

Glad you see it that way. If it isn’t worth dying for, it surely isn’t worth killing.

I wouldn’t go in after my phone…it would never have gone in…neither would my kid. Putting myself in those situations wouldn’t happen. Then again, I also don’t mind sharks in the ocean either. :D

Point of my comment is to minimize all the “I’ll grab my gun and go look for trouble” ideologies on forums. There is way too much of that going around.

I have USCCA as well, they recently made some nice changes to their policies which covers more for potential litigation. This was one of the negatives of USCCA as i beleive some of the other alternatives had unlimited coverage.

Dumb question - I have a 2016 TRD Pro. It is stock other than the Harrop being installed this week. If I'm ordering Valhalla I assume I need both the front and rear covers? Are thieves hitting the rears more frequently these days?

    TEXAS!

i have this https://getcatsecurity.com/purchase-online/ols/products/cat-scr-tun4 and feel much more comfortable out and about, and leaving my tundra in a parking garage while at work.

upgraded to the 3/16 aluminum main plate, and added the rear.

received within a week of placing order was a HUGE plus to me.

this thread has some great pics https://www.tundras.com/threads/i-went-with-the-ccm-cat-shield.100836/

For the most protection, you need both the front and rear plate. Not sure if your truck has the TRD skid plate, but if it does you probably want to also buy the TRD nut plate. Reports say that it greatly simplifies installation of the Valhalla plates with the TRD skid.

Do you by chance have the directions for the rear? About ready to install mine and it only came with directions for the front.

Mine didn't either so I called their support number. I had a guy install them but I explained how they lined up.

Should be pretty straightforward to line up the holes on the rear with the back holes on the front. They said to leave the back screws of the front cover loose until you've fit the rear cover into the area, then tighten all.

Got mine installed today. Took me about 2 hours. Would’ve been a lot easier on a lift! Hopefully this’ll keep the douche bags away.

I just had my plates installed this past weekend which gave me a huge sigh of relief when I traveled to Dallas for an overnight training. I bought the Pentagon Security Bolts to go with the plates, but my installer used the non-security bolts instead, which I’m fine with. If anyone is interested in purchasing, send me a PM. I’ve got the TRD Pro Nut Plate also to help with the installation.

I had my Valhallas installed yesterday with security bolts. Took my mechanic about an hour. Hope this keeps the bad guys away. Spendy but worth it to me…..

    Not enough....
After months of a Valhalla shield sitting in my garage, I finally got around to installing it. I was waiting on doing my transmission flush first, and since I did that a few weeks back I was finally ready.

First off, I knew a long time ago that I might have problems installing this because the coverage of my P&P engineering front skid plate was almost too good. It's significantly wider at the back than the TRD skid plate or RCI, and even has a turned up side to prevent reaching in. So I had very limited room to possibly reach the front bolts/nuts.

So I preemptively bought large, similar sized eye bolts; same length and width, and even same thread pitch. I installed then facing down, and used a long pry bar through the eye to keep them from spinning while I tightened the lock nuts down. I still might trim off the extra threads, but overall I'm happy enough with it given the circumstances.

It wasn't easy, but it all worked perfectly. I already had my secondary cats removed, so now I'm finally all protected. Thanks again Tyler.

I've seen pictures where people have spray painted their catalytic converters a bright color, in addition to having a shield.

Does anyone know the reason for the paint?

Some recycling centers won't take them with paint on them. Thieves will steal them, painted or not.

In theory they would be harder to sell to a scrap yard, but really all of these crooks are unloading them at seedy places anyway who don't give a shit.

In PA an individual cannot "legally" sell catalytic converters to any scrap yard, only a business can do that. But clearly that doesn't stop the thefts. Same with the paint, maybe it could help, but unlikely. A physical deterrent is better.

I put on the Talon’s garage plates a few weeks back. I would have loved to have supported Valhalla but a multiple week wait for thinner gauge aluminum for more money was a pretty tough sell for me.

Install was simple enough but would have been easier with a lift, that’s for sure.
