I searched the forum and looked at RCI but can't find a skid plate that covers the cats for protection but mostly for theft deterrence. Budbuilt's 5 piece combo looks like it might cover but it's hard to tell.

With the amount of cat thefts from Tundras I'm surprised there aren't good offerings from fabricators. I'm trying to stay away from cat cages and cat straps as they either look like crap or allow direct access to the cats and most of the pipes.

    Has anyone found anything useful?

I know everyone on this site jumps on the RCI bandwagon, not saying they don't make a good product, because they do.

OR-FAB come from the jeep world and they are pretty respected there. If they can make products tough enough for jeeps that actually wheel and bash their skids/bumpers/carriers etc into rocks, they should be plenty fine for Toyotas.

    Just my .02 cents.

Thanks a lot guys. You're right Mike, OR-FAB make's em for the '14's so one's on the way. I know it's not a sure thing but it may be better than nothing. Really appreciate the replies.

Does anyone have an OR-Fab? Seems like the best cat theft deterrent. But how is it as a skid plate?

There is one on craigslist here every so often. I believe the guy makes them. They look really nice, but are expensive.

I don't think it would make a good skid plate though, but awesome for theft protection of cats.

4 Wheel Parts is listed on the OR-Fab site as a distributor. They didn't show the gen 3 part so I called them. He said his computer showed it as being discontinued but that he one available in CA so I ordered it. As we were wrapping it up I asked if discontinued meant from the factory or from 4 Wheel Parts. He said "I don't think we carry their products anymore." I took that to mean it was a decision by 4 Wheel Parts, but from the other posts it sounds like it was the other way around.

I know there was some type of lawsuits going around all I know.

If they reorganize they will be under a new name so no more lawsuits from the roll cages if my memory is correct..

IMO the plate for anti cat stealing is damn heavy and IMO worth the price and engineered correctly.

Good to see some are still out there. The nolimit4x4 website jacked the product description and applicable model years though. For anyone ordering use caution. The OR-Fab web site says model number 87042 (ending in 2) is for the 2007-2016 Tundra while number 87041 is for 00-06 Tundra. The nolimit site's product description doesn't reflect this completely. The nolimit link and product number are correct, just don't get confused by the description.

    87041 2000-2006:
    http://www.orfab.com/details.php?Application=Toyota&Part_Number=87041&Title=00-06 TOYOTA TUNDRA / 01-07 SEQUOIA TRANS. SKID PLATE/CAT THEFT SHIELD&Active=Yes

    87042 2007 - 2016
http://www.orfab.com/details.php?Application=Toyota&Part_Number=87042&Title=2007-2016 TUNDRA / 08-13 SEQUOIA TRANSMISSION SKID PLATE CAT THEFT&Active=Yes

I wonder what goes through people's minds before crawling under someone else's vehicle to steal something?

    Maybe I'm weird.

    My thoughts:
    -Jailtime really sucks.
    -Moral compass
-A direct kick to the nuts is surely gonna hurt.
-depending on state laws, a bullet in your ass hurts.

I used to get my tie down straps (and other things) stolen all the time out of the bed of my trucks. About 12 years ago I got lazy and left more than normal shell casings in the bed after a long weekend of shooting and forgot about it. I left them in the bed for a while and noticed something, my straps were no longer missing. To this day, at any given time, empty casings are in my bed of the truck. Haven't lost a strap since.

Not weird at all LT. You're just thinking like an upstanding American.

Going to do this right now. It'll be nice little salad of brass and shells!

How heavy is the ORFab? I figure it would need to be removed and placed back on for oil changes? Seems like great price. I wouldn't want to be on vacation and find cats rip out. That'd be piss off the whole trip.

Looking at the install instructions, seems like it could get frustrating to line up the bolts with the holes on the nut plates, since the plate isn't held and could slide around? Any suggestions?

I used a jack and one knee under mine when installing mine.
