I’m running Flax components up front off of a Rockford Fosgate amp, and I’m happy. Had JL Audio C-5’s before that. I really like the silk tweeters on JL, but the Focals sound good. In my opinion need to be amped for sure to get best sound.

Thinking of replacing the speakers with focal and replacing amp with JL Audio4channel Full Range 100 W. Anyone know if a four channel will run all the speakers off of that amp? I read somewhere here??? Need more channels to run all the speakers??

Stock speakers are 2 ohm so new 4ohm Focal speakers will be half the output and therefore should be amped like @stlfan said.
Unless they sell a 2 ohm set of Focal?

I've got Focal's in both front and back doors and in the dash. Amp'd up like Toyotoholic mentions is the way to go.

I'd suggest you do it in steps. Do the speakers without a bass box. It will absolutely sound better. Then if you still fill a need to expand the system, upgrade the bass box. It is your truck, the only one you have to satisfy is you.

That’s what I’m thinking. I found out that the front speakers don’t run off the amp too?? Which I thought was weird?? Plan is to upgrade doors and amp and have room to add a bass if needed.

Over a 12 month period I replaced the door speakers 1st, and it sounded better. The 2nd thing I did was replace the head unit with one that delivered more power, and it sounded much better. The 3rd and final thing I did was add the under seat amped sub-woofer, and it sounds great.

4 channel will be fine. Each door will be it's own channel. You won't be able to power the dash speakers like that, but you really don't need them. I am currently running a JL 5 channel amp, 4 channels are for the door speakers and the 5th is for the sub.

Focal are nice. But I am a fan of CDT. Previously Cliff Designs. Lesser known brand, but they build seriously amazing sounding and built speakers for very reasonable cost. CDTs mids are warmer than focal in my opinion. And the CDTs can take serious power

I don't know if you have an amp picked out yet, but consider one with DSP (digital sound processor) built in. I was fortunate enough to have the Marantz Rep program my DSP and my truck sounds incredible. As far as the dash speakers, I bought one set of 3-way Focals and used one of the 3 speakers in the left and right dash positions. The tweeter and other speaker was installed in the doors. The middle dash speaker is unplugged and no longer in the equation.

I’m looking hard at Focal or BLAM component speakers for my stage 2 sound upgrade.
Will be running them through an “audio control” 6 channer 1200w amp.
Will also be getting an audio control 800w sub amplifier installed at same time.
    Both have DSP.
My Christmas present to myself will be the stage 3 audio upgrade to 2 x 10” JL TW subs. output is 400w yet 1/2 the depth of a standard 600w sub.
I‘ll be relocating floor jack to truck bed and installing a Krueger 2000w inverter with a dual 120v outlet.

We took a drive to Taco Tunes. The place I was thinking about doing our stuff was insistent that the front speakers run of an amp. He also told me he did Tundras before. I gave up and took a drive and let those guys do the Tundra. Hells bells they only do Toyota stuff. Replaced the door speakers, amp, and I went with the ten inch bass behind the back seat and was glad I did. The system they installed sounds amazing!! It is clear with zero distortion and plenty loud now. We were glad we took a trip there.

I am, both front and rear doors. Went from RF speakers to these focals. Very much worth it. I am dynomatted though and changed out all the factory speaker wires to a larger size. Tuned with the Steve Meade DD-1 to ensure no clipping. Sound is crisp and clear

You went with PS165 FX in the front?
Did you have to modify much for the install? I saw that one person here had to make spacers to accommodate the depth..
I called Focal and they recommended just a two way speaker in the rear and disconnect the rear tweeter. Or they said I could just keep the factory speakers in the rear doors unless people sit back there frequently.
If I'm going to upgrade the system, I'd rather use component speakers in the rear doors and utilize the separate tweeter.
Does 165FE blend well with the 165 FX?

Yes, the PS 165 FX went in the fronts. I did have to make a speaker adapter for mounting, those you can either make yourself or purchase. Installed the tweets in the door sail panel, took a small amount of fabing.
I put the PS 165 FE with tweets in the rear doors. I myself would not leave the factories in as they totally suck. IMO, my system sounds really great. I have seen others put nothing in the rear doors.

I'll be installing these. Pulled most of the info and video install from another thread - https://www.tundras.com/threads/2019-tundra-limited-with-jbl-audio-upgrade.48956/ I started tonight so I'll post pictures tomorrow. It's PNP with just a hint of can do. The connection for the CM20 is at the top of the JBL but on the Focal it's on the side, they include an extender which is nice.
