I finished upgrading the stereo in my old RCSB, I upgraded incrementally over time.

    1. Speakers: Focal IC 690 TOY, the original dash tweeters are still working fine.
    2. Head Unit: Kenwood DPX792BH eXcelon
    3. Sub Woofer: Kenwood KSC-SW11

Total cost: Less than $600, shipping & installation included.
Results: This system does everything I want it to do, and much more.

I installed the door speakers myself, but I had a pro do the rest.

I've always liked Kenwood products. Decent specs.Looks good too in the dash. I'm finally getting tired of the crappy OEM stereo. Your Kenwood setup will cure that without breaking the bank.

I'm really liking that price point. This is most likely the route I'm going!

    Hey Matt,

I changed out the head unit to add a backup camera. That alone helped the sound quality a lot. Really surprised at how well it sounds, no plans to replace speakers.

A radio with camera inputs may cost a bit more, as well as the cost of a camera (tailgate latch with camera $100). Install Labor ($200ish) relatively cheap, well worth it.

Custom speed dent. Saving up for matching driver side speed dent.
You chose not to use the focal tweeters for that set, or did you only get the woofers?

Just curious cause most audio manf. are A-holes when it comes to buying just the raw drivers.

Now that im thinking about it Focal is actually one of the very few that do sell individual componet woofers.

I guess i just answered my own question. Ehh...

Any plans on amping your nice focal woofers in the future? They're focals after all, you gotta bring them babbies to life!

Focal makes a great product. you would really have to step up the cost to get better

OK Great . You can still try just a HU and see how you like it, always add speakers later.

Years ago I would always upgrade everything in vehicles. Have gotten away from that as I have aged (officially middle-aged), and most stock stuff has gotten good enough for my needs. I was just pleasantly surprised at how well our 07 sounds sounds with just the HU upgrade.

Uhm.. Yeah, i knew that :tinfoilhat:.

Now if i would of looked up the right speaker models then i can say 100% that this would not be awkward.

How about that weather? Sure is crappy.

I have focal tweeters in dash, 6x9 in front doors and 6.5's in rear doors powered by a JL amp and pioneer HU. sounds great.

What tweeters did you use, model #?
    Is an installation kit required?

Those are the ones i mistakenly looked up i believe. Ic 690 are the coaxial and the Is 690 are the components.

    Both look good.
