That's interesting... I'm under 5k still, so a ways to go... The exhaust doesn't bother me (at least now it doesn't), but I wonder why it softens; maybe it's something to do the baffles getting too much build up or something in there :notsure:

My '15 pro sounds great with stock TRD exhaust. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I agree completely. My kids sometimes tease me that I mention how much I love the sound of my truck, but I am off the opinion that I can't mention it enough.

I added the TRD Dual Exhaust to my 19’ platinum and have no complaints. Wouldn’t have it any other way.

Trd exhaust doesn’t change in sound. I’ve cut them open after a hundred thousand miles. Zero change in packing or anything inside the muffler.

If the stock TRD Pro exhaust bothers you, you may want to check and make sure you don't have sand lodged in your vajayjay. :D

I dont mind the sound but it is definitely on the louder side. If your wife doesnt care for cars then she is probably going to dislike it. Mine hates it

There's different lengths in helmholtz resonators? Or is it one size for all bams 8, 10, 12, etc?

He has a longer one for his longer BAM systems.
But when I tried it, it killed the minimal drone of my 12, but knocked the sound to stock.
So I went back to a 10 with the standard rez.
For someone that never tows, I think that is the sweet spot.

The 6, 8, 10, 12 all come with his standard-sized rez (as far as I know), I just tried the longer one with my 12 to see what would happen..
    @dirtydeeds can clarify all this..
Keith is the man when it comes to Tundra exhaust...

Got it, I had the 12 then swapped it for an 8. I really liked the way the 12 sounded just wished it was a little more noticeable. Haha now I'm wondering about 10 to see if it is better

I had the 8 first and it was a little loud and raspy.
I like the 10 the best..

Just bought a 2020 tundra it has a Flowmaster outlaw on it. OMFG I cant wait to rip it off it’s absolutely horrible on the interstate the drone will drive a sane person mad at 1800 rpm. Sounds pretty badass on a cold start and around town. Pretty much like a nascar. I’ll probably get the TRD exhaust or the Borla Touring.

One of my friends that has a Tesla (and a former Tundra owner) rode with me the other day. After about 20 minutes he said “Wow, this truck is really quiet.” We weren’t even thinking about it until we realized how nice it was to have a conversation in the cab.

Stock exhaust w/ resonator, sound insulated/deadened doors, floor and back wall, highway tires.

One of the biggest reasons why I decided not to sell my 21 Pro. The exhaust note. Love it. No issues with droning.

Chiming in here with something Keith @dirtydeeds is trying out on my '20 Tundra.
If you tow a lot this may be of interest to you.

I've had the DD 10" system with the standard length resonator for a couple of years now, love the sound, zero drone, 1000x better than my buddy's TRD dual exhaust. Just bought a travel trailer and will be towing a lot this spring/summer. When I brought the trailer home it didn't bother me at all, but I'm predicting it will bother the wife, specifically on long grades when the rpms are up in the 2800-3500 rpm range for long runs, which is the throatiest/loudest part of the sound on this system. I called Keith to discuss some options, and since I'm local to him I went to his shop today to discuss and try some things out. First thing we're trying is the longer 31" resonator to see if that kills a little bit of that volume at the 2800-3500 rpm range. Initial drive home (not towing), a little less overall volume, but still has a great tone. I dropped it into 3rd and 4th a few times on some hills to get into the upper rpms and its definitely better than before. The wife and I will be towing this weekend so I'll get a good gauge of volume and tone under load and climbing hills, and a good gauge of her tolerance level, haha!

We'll see how the initial test goes, hopefully my co-pilot is happy and we'll call it good, but if its still too loud then I'll likely swap to a 12" system, which is a few notches down in volume. That's one of the great things about going with Dirty Deeds, Keith truly just wants you to be happy with his exhaust and is always willing to work with you to get what you're after. Either way, I'm not going back to that suitcase of a stock muffler that's just taking up space in my garage attic!

Also, side note, got to ride in Keith's 3rd gen TRD Pro with his new exhaust... sounds amazing! You 3rd gen guys are in for a treat with these systems! Every 2nd gen Raptor guy is gonna be like WTF?

I changed my exhaust to the DD exhaust with no jack in my driveway which took less than an hour. Then I decided to put the resonator on, little more work but when finished I liked it better without the resonator. So my stainless steel resonator is a trophy on the wall. LOL

Lots of good info here. Particularly about going with @dirtydeeds for aftermarket exhaust.

@BingoFuel what are you looking to do most with your truck? Tow, or off road? The suspension on the TRD Pro levels the front and you'd be running nose high if you tow a bunch (unless you added a leaf, bags etc to your rear springs). If you plan on mild/ moderate off roading, and towing more, I'd look at a limited with TRD off road package. Then swap the OEM exhaust for a DD to get a little more aggressive note and improved performance vs the TRD Pro Dual setup.

Stock, non-Pro exhaust here. Maybe I just don't know what I'm missing, but I've never really wanted to change it.

Does changing your exhaust behind the cats offer any performance gains? I'd guess they'd be minor if so.

It’s mostly visceral - want to hear the V8 a little.

With the BAM system, acceleration feels a little more effortless and responsive than stock.

Same, I'm honestly kind of curious now about adding a resonator to my stock exhaust to make it quieter.

Whatever this forum told me to do

the only time one should get duals is if you have forced induction. duals lose hp/TQ on NA.

if NA, and you want a smidge of performance & nifty sound get @dirtydeeds

    bring the hate....
