I wonder if the bearing has anything to do with your problems? I noticed the one I took off was sealed and my brand new one isn't. :notsure:20200617_173844.jpg I

Sorry for all the post boys. The only thing I'm worried about is its my transmission.... which i have some hope that its not cause it shifts completely the same.

I think the sealed one came in 4x4 models.

Oddly, I don’t have archive modeling pics of my CB job. :DI do know they are buried in the What Have You Done Section. Page 40-60?

I was trying to remember if my CB was sealed, but don’t think it was? I ordered it using my VIN# via Toy Online Site. Better be sealed or I’m gonna...

@Pucks18 don't worry about all the posts. That's what this place is about. It sounds like you're gonna need to do the rear bearings. It's not that difficult to get the axles out; its pressing them back on that sucks.

Thanks. I'm gonna take it to my trusty mechanic on the 29th.. hes a busy busy guy. I'm not gonna attempt it myself. I just found it strange it happens right after changing the center bearing. But i put my finger on the bottom of the bearing with the truck running with the wheels in the air and it was smooth as butter.. it makes a little more sense now though cause i just took the truck on an 80 mile round trip. I guess that would be the death bringer on soon to go bearings. We shall see

O btw, when i changed the center bearing, the old one had a small washer that came out of it. I'm not sure if the new one should have a washer in there so i never installed it back into the new one, fearing that since the ones we have are not sealed it would interfere with the actual bearing spinning itself. Not sure if it did the right thing though! Pretty sure all that washer is for is to help keep dirt out. I'm not really worried about that though

It's really not a hard job to pull them. And if you do, all you gotta pay is for a shop to press them on. Check this and see what you think.

Thanks. So yesterday i jacked the rear up and let the tires spin in drive. There was a noise coming from the rear right tire, is it normal for a free wheeling wheel to make some sort of noise or should that be silent? It wasnt a pleasant noise to say the least. And it has a slight amount of play clicks a little when i grab the tire and shack it back and forth. Not sure if any at all is normal or not

It should be fairly quiet. The clicking is probably your diff compensating and sending power to the other side.

I'm talking about grabbing the tire and shacking it toward me and then toward the truck. Not spinning it

Yeah. That washer is necessary. There is a reason for it.

@Professional Hand Model what is that washer even for? To make surr torque is evenly distributed on the bearing during install? I do not feel like doing the job for a 3rd time

The reason i didnt reinstall the small washer is cause it was touching the bearing and made no sense to me as i thought it would mess up my new bearing which didnt come with one

Installing this Dorman instead of the spicer bearing, hopefully it holds up well. Does anyone remember what side the smaller washer went? Nevermind I found out where it goes.20200618_121835.jpg

Okay... now that does not make sense at all. When i was watching videos on replacing these bearing, the small washer goes on on the back side of the bearing (facing toward the rear of the truck) thats where mine was facing when i took it off. And same with this video. https://youtu.be/r3FAyvYZclU. Skip to 1:52 for the washer part. Sorry but the graph has got to be wrong or for the wrong vehicle

Screw it. Tommorw I'm gonna put my old one back on and see if the this new noise is still there. It only makes sense that this noise that happens RIGHT after changing my carrier bearing is the new one that isnt the right one..

All of your u-joints need to be in the same plane. If a trunnion on the front is straight up the very rear must be in the same position or u-joints will fight each other. May be a spline or two out of phase causing the noise and vibration.
If you notice in the video the flange was not put back on the shaft in the same position it was taken off. This will throw the joints out of phase and cause the shaft to actually whip as it turns.

I have a 4 wheel drive, with it sealed I believe it supposed to keep the mud and gunk out. I did get it installed and so far so good. Hopefully with your reinstallation of your old one fixes your probs. Remember to put that smaller washer back in. GL

This. Make sure all the u joints are lined up. Typically causes a vibration, but can also cause noise. To track down the noise noise easier when I suspected my wheel bearing, I lifted the back of the truck up and had someone get it up to 40mph... that’s what got me to know I had a bad wheel bearing.

Okay thank you. Which way did u install the small washer? Did u install it before putting the center bearing on (after the bearing facing toward the front)? Or did u put it on right after putting the bearing on, ( facing the back)?

You are correct, the small washer goes on the CB facing the rear of the truck. The diagram that Professional Hand Model posted is correct. As Superwhite and Emptylord posted make sure your U joints are lined up.
