Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I think we'll stay with the old beast Sequoia for a while. I appreciate your insight, I panicked when fuel prices jumped and started looking for an upgrade for fuel mileage. The old beast Yota doesn't get stellar fuel mileage, but she does everything else well.

agreed to that, hard to say goodbye to my 5.7 when my 23’ comes out but 12.5 mpg makes me cry

I don't like the complexity of these new generation drivetrains chasing EPA requirements. I can cover fuel costs. What I can't cover is a tow with a trailer hooked up 100 miles from anybody but a good samaritan shade tree mechanic.

Always cringe when people talk about spending money to save money.

Gas isn't that expensive. If a $55-90k SUV is financially feasible, $6/gas should still be affordable in the financial situation.

Or maybe people just want a new vehicle and "better mpgs" is a convenient excuse....

Was all lined up to trade my 22 in for a sequoia this weekend.. then saw videos of the rear storage area and immediately called the dealer and said no thanks.... sucks, probably going to end up with a diesel Yukon at some point now.

You dodged a bullet. The sequoia is even worse in person.

I’m down to a Tahoe or Grand Cherokee L

but I might just sit tight on the crv until market doesn’t look like a roller coaster headed to a recession. Can only get cheaper

The duramax is such a cool engine. Especially now that the LZ0 is out with 305hp/495 tq.

I havent driven the GCL, but I have had a few Durango's(including an R/T) as rentals and they really are super nice trucks. The ride and handling are great and the 8 speed is awesome as usual.

ya, not sure what toyota was thinking on that, they took a full-size suv and made it small inside (cargo space) and no flat area for cargo either.

I was shocked when I looked at the cargo area of the sequoia and the competitors.

too bad because looks wise they nailed it, that front end should be on the tundra

Not going to lie I kind of want the Durango RT or 392 but the GCL seems more lux

Yeah I’m going to also say that I am not buying it for mpg as I can afford that part just dandy. Mine is a 2014 and been great but I want and can afford a new one. Figured my wife can’t ahead get spoiled, I want to be sometimes

My powerboost easily gets 20 all day in normal mixed driving which is 5-ish mpg better than my 5.7 Crewmax. 21-24 if I am a bit more gentle. But it won’t save me meaningful money until I pay it off in 3-4 years and then hold it for a few years after that. Right now I’m not saving a dime over my old paid off 14 mpg truck because I bought a new truck.

My secretary just got a new GC, I’ve owned 2 Jeep SRT’s (2014 and current 2020), I owned a 2012 Durango RT Blacktop for about a year, and my sister has a 2017’ish Durango RT that I drive every month or so.

If you are wanting lux, the new GC/GCL interiors blow the Durango and WK GC interiors out of the water. My secretary got a new GC Limited, and it’s one of the nicest interiors I’ve ever been in. With the GCL having the 3rd row, I can’t see any reason to get a dinosaur Durango.

The interior of my 2020 GC SRT is pretty nice, but the new Gen GC / GCL Limited (and above) interior makes it feel dated and ergonomically inferior.

When they drop the new normal output Hurricane motor into the new GC and GCL, they will own the domestic mid-size SUV market.

Then when they put the High Output Hurricane motor in the GC to make the SRT variant…… I’ll get one ASAP.

23 pilot videos and pics are out. I’m probably skipping the jeep for this. It’s not as lux but has the updated and cargo space I’m looking for.

And pilot third row looks more spacious than the sequoia…..yeah I said it

    So no

Pilot has always been the best ride/space/reliability option just not the nicest or luxury or fancy. Practicality is number one. Kind of like the pilot truck. Whatever it’s called. Practical as hell.
So no more truck? Or is this a different vehicle?

That transmission they put in the odyssey/pilot/ridgeline platform is not a long term piece of equipment. Honda’s lifetime warranty is decent, and I know more than a couple odyssey drivers who have had transmission issues around 100k.

That the 9 speed they use in some Acuras too? My wife's 2015 TLX has one. My understanding is it was codeveloped with Chrysler and shared with some of their platforms. Honda sent her a letter a few years ago saying they were proactively giving her a 10 year warranty on the transmission because of known issues.

I don't know if it's the same or not. That's crazy! The Chrysler connection, lol.

I just thought it was common knowledge the transmissions in the Odyssey platform have been sketch for a long time.

Haha, All joking aside, I did think this new engine was basically the "proven" engine that has been used in the LS500 for the last couple years. This thread indicated that was not the case....

Listed my Powerboost for sale today. 3000 miles (26k total) and 6 warranty claims since I bought it (one month ago). Thing is beautiful inside, and light years ahead of the Tundra for doing truck stuff, but just such a shitty truck quality wise. The front wheel wells have paper liners!

    It’s everywhere .

All manufacturers are taking notes, the quality ones included. They can deliver sub quality vehicles at a premium and idiots will buy them for even higher than that premium. Everyone is decontenting trucks and using shitty materials to build them. And shits selling for historically high money. It’s the craziest shit.
