I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.

Sounds like she could be "the" girl. You should probably wife that one up.

We've been together 7 years. We're both divorced and neither wants to be married again. We're "life partners".

I would never get married again either. Not that I'm unhappy with my situation (quite the opposite), but North America isn't friendly on men in divorce court.

    .. and this fact :
    Husband/Wife Store
    THE HUSBAND STORE

A store that sells new husbands has just opened in New York City, where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates.

You may visit the store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the attributes of the men increase as the shopper ascends the flights. There is, however, a catch: you may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up a floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband...

On each floor the signs on the doors read:

Floor 1 - These men have jobs.

Floor 2 - These men have jobs and love kids.

Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love kids, and are extremely good looking. "Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the fourth floor and sign reads:

Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love kids, are drop-dead good looking and help with the housework. "Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!" Still, she goes to the fifth floor and sign reads:

Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love kids, are drop-dead gorgeous, help with the housework, and have a strong romantic streak. She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 6 - You are visitor 3,261,496,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.

    THE WIFE STORE

Floor 1 - has wives that love sex.

Floor 2 - has wives that love sex and have money.

The third through sixth floors have never been visited.

I’ll take since this thread turned out to be mainly a bunch of bullshit only, that the blown engine thing must not be that widespread at some have hoped for ;)

It's really not. That is why I have the blown engine data only thread (so it didn't turn out like this one).

Very true. I came out good on the big D. With 3 kids I only pay $100 a week in child support, and I get to claim them on taxes every other year. I don't remember the term, but we're equal parents with standard visitation. Still sucks, I wish I had my kids more.

Having engine replaced at 29,000 due to “spun bearings.” They are replacing engine, turbos. Everything except heads.

My engine went out on a remote freeway in Arizona at 41,504 miles and 18 hours from our home. My wife and I waited 5 hours for a tow to the dealer in Lake Havasu. Because they already had two 2022 Tundras in the queue for engine replacement, they told me it would be there for up to two months. They offered a loaner Camry for two weeks. What a joke. Mine was the fifth 2022 Tundra at that dealer for engine replacement. They told me only the non hybrid 2022 models are affected. The metal shavings were not cleared after drilling during manufacture.

seems to be another confirmation of the poor block cleaning cause.

there hasn't been a single hybrid failure?

ya I thought so, it makes sense, the blocks are the same and would have been made and not cleaned at the same time

Shocked to hear 5 failures so far at the Lake Havasu Toyota dealer. That town only has 60k people.

Last year it was easier to do the math when we had a good idea based on short block and gasket kit orders and industry watchers posted 200K trucks had been produced at that time. For my own sanity I pushed the failure number to 1000 (way over actual at that time) and used 200K built. That gives you 0.5%. Who knows what it is now but failures have tapered off and units built just goes up. The percentage is still very low but to all the affected owners it still totally stinks.

    Nothing yet

Think this is inaccurate.....look at the shear number of recalls for the Ford 150s. Chevrolets drop transmissions all the time so much that a master mechanic at our local Chevrolet dealer said he would never buy one and recommends the CURRENT Tundra. Ram can't give their trucks away they are plagued with so many problems. I don't know who your local dealer is but they can easily switch to RAM or chevy dealership.

People are used to previous generations quality, where the worst thing that seems to happen is running out of gas.

Wierd that “running out of gas” on my 07 crewmax meant I needed a new water pump at 41k miles.

You had a water pump fail? How long was the truck down for that?

The above is the best advice. (edit)

If you live in Florida or Arizona, someplace hot, with a turbo motor that the oil gets heated up by them, general rule of thumb without the analysis is to change it more frequently.

Yeah, that made me chuckle. My Gen2 has been a good truck but had it’s fair share of issues that come to mind:

    • Brakes gone at 5k
    • Electronic Shift controller
    • ABS Sensor mounts decoupled
    • Electronic Shift Controller (Yes, again)
    • Rear axle assembly/seal/bearing
    • I don’t recall what it was, related to distributor but on left rear frame, see pic. This one left me stranded far from pavement and nice long walk.
She is generally still solid however. I think gen3 will fare just fine over time. Especially against the big 3.

I think you’re right. ‘module’ was one of the words. When first diagnosed I thought, “shouldn’t that be under the hood?”
