I inherited a 2004 Tundra a couple weeks ago, and it just developed a strange electrical issue today. The power lock button and all of the window switches on the master switch, except the LF window, do not work while the vehicle's ignition is on. The power lock button works while the key is out of the vehicle or is in the "acc" position, and all the power windows work normally with the key in the "acc" position. All the power windows work using their individual switches, just not from the master switch while the ignition is on. I don't have a key fob, so I can't test the locks with that, but the power locks do work by putting the key in the door. I haven't gotten into fixing it at all yet, but any direction would be appreciated! Seems like a really strange issue to have. Thank you for the help!

Ignition on - RF, RR, and LR windows cannot be operated from power window master switch, power locks cannot be operated from window master switch. Windows can be operated from the switches on their doors.

"ACC," key off, key out of vehicle - Everything works normally.

Interesting. @BubbaW learned me something new I didn't know recently, that some (all?) double cabs use the BM (body control module) for lock functions, maybe windows too?

Anyway, welcome to the forum, catch this thread if you haven't already so you know what to do with that new inheritance: https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/

And hopefully someone can pop along with answers. And I have some questions:

Have you had any doors off recently?

Is the little square lockout button toggled on at the driver's side master control?

Have you had any incidents with rain events, water leaking in, or have you been parking the truck outside recently where it primarily lived in a covered parking spot?

The latter is so we know if cabin leaks (into fusebox, which is common) or rodents (also common) may be a culprit.

I will take a look at that thread, thank you!

I had the lockout button off. I tested it with it on and off, it seems to be working normally.

The truck is being parked outside in the driveway. It has been stored outside since at least 2012 when my Grandpa bought it, and is being parked outside still. I haven't taken anything apart on it since I got it, and I don't think the doors have ever been taken apart or off. I do know that there was a small leak on the top center of the windshield, causing water to drip into the cupholders. I fixed that last week. It has been raining hard for the last two days here, though. Maybe I didn't get it sealed all the way and I got water in a connector behind the dash... The issue started while I was out driving, though, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't rodents. The thing that is really throwing me off is that everything works until the ignition turns on. If everything is controlled by a BCM, though, that may make sense.

Is there *any* evidence an aftermarket alarm was installed, either by the dealership (which happens often enough to point it out) up under the driver's side of the dash? Wire splicing, mystery black boxes, that kind of thing?

From the thread I just linked, when weird issues come up and there have been known leaks, rust along the windshield, the door seals, or windshield replaced:
    • Occasionally, water leaks can send water down into the ECM behind the glovebox (pics), or into the fusebox inside the cab/dash (pics and more pics). A lot of drain/vampire issues trace back to aftermarket add-ons whether the owner knows they exist or not - alarms as mentioned earlier, brake controllers, poorly installed trailer receptacles, those are some big ones.
The second two links in that text may be something to check.

Interesting. I just read / skimmed that big thread you sent me. Lots of good info in there! Water leaking into the electronics seems like a good place to start, I'll check it out and let you know what I find. Thanks for the help!
