What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Exacto knife to clean out the screw head. You can also cut around the head so it doesn't tear when unscrewing the bolt.

 

Nope just removed the factory applied tape and added a new strip along the opposite side and it fit like it was made to fit that way.

 

Installed the Bedslide and it locks at every foot or so!

 

I got same slide but added the top and bottom side bins. Love it.

 

As already mentioned, cut off the bed liner with a knife. It will peel off.

 

Did you change out the side rails on yours?
Mine are really thin and do not take any standard T-Nuts that I have found but the newer versions seem to have an option for the rails that look like yours?

Yes I did, bedslide sells a conversion package so you can take from what you have now and turn into mine if you desire. Keep in mind, the exact bedslide you have now is what mine looked like before I made change adding the packages. 1000 pro se as u can see in pic. I found a great deal on it.

 

Yeah I saw that it was the same Slide but it also does not have the stock rails.
I have no need for the boxes or different rails that I can think if and honestly they would not even fit through the doors on my Cap either.
They also pretty much look like they are about to break off all the time to me as they always angle towards the unsupported side

I got the Slide for $250 and it has new bearings and a set of spare new ones too so I am pretty happy with it the way it is and if anything I will build something over the slide like another level for ladders or lighter storage.?

 

Sounds like u got a great deal too. I got alot of weight in my boxes being mostly tools and so far they've held up great. Every once in a while I'll lift up on them and tighten them down a bit so they're not on any angle. I'm pretty sure if u wanted to customize it to your liking it's possible since it's wood. For me, it does what I need, which holds all my tools and gear in place. Especially with the bed cover it's nice not having to climb up in the back to get something. Good luck with yours.

 

Thought I had made the decision to go with the OEM bed extender but need some advise. I will mostly be using the extender folded into the bed to keep all my hunting gear and 120qt ice chest from sliding around. What does the forum say? AMP U shape or OEM

I found your install pics and still am not sure that they are the same exact slide though they are named the same.
Yours looks to have standard L-Track side rails mounted on the decking but mine are some odd undersized slotted track that I can not get a fastener into except for a few really thin sheet t-nuts with 1/4" holes.

I will probably just mount standard half thickness Strut instead and then I can can build off of that as I would anything else.

Like I said I cant really mount anything outside the width of the decking as my doors only barely pass the deck itself and sure would not let anything wider go by!

I also have this which I got with a different Slide that I found first and am not sure if I will adapt it to the Bedslide or not yet?
Not sure it will be worth the weight penalty for the organization though it is also only 6.5' long on my 8' slide and would make for interesting storage for sure.

 

Today I got around to installing a two-way rear differential breather after my fluid was tainted from a mysterious puddle that ended up being a lake.
I'm sure this could have been done with $10 and a trip to the orange store, but I went the clean route of buying ARB's breather kit on

amazon. It came with enough tube and fittings to do my front dif and my transfer case, even though those already have breathers.
Unlike everything else I did to my truck, this one was actually a 15 minute job. @BlueBottle made a pretty good write-up in case you are interested in not have a leaky rear

 

Add the rear window ventvisor. Converted it from outside channel to inside.

 

That's what I was trying to say. The corner caps on the front and the rails that mount to the sides and back of the actual slide I put on after removing the same thin metal side rails that you have. Bedslide sells it as part of a kit, think it might be called a conversion kit, if I remember correctly. But yeah mine looked just like yours when I 1st got it. I then removed the side and rear thin black metal like you have on. I then installed the sides and rear what looks like L track around the same slide. After that I cut to size the rails then mounted bins, finished off with the front corner black caps that pop onto corners. I'm pretty sure they're exactly the same with the exception of length since I got crewmax.

 

Here you go, I looked it up for you. It's the retro fit rail kit. It's basically L track that surrounds the sides and rear that you can then mount the newer rails to side and rear with tie downs and such. Hope this helps.

I find their website pretty frustrating and I can rarely tell if I am looking at anything compatible at all?
I am never going to get that kit though as it just gives me nothing that isn't already there really and since I can not use the boxes anyway there is just no utility in it for me for the price.
I am going to mod mine with standard UniStrut like I do everything else for $50 and get something thats exactly what I need and a lot stronger too!
Or I am not going to change anything and see how it works like it is before changing it.
Or I am going to mount that giant box that I already have on it and then mount strut to that?

Wife got me a center console organizer for my birthday last week. To use it, required me drilling out the existing rivets. I drilled out about 3 or 4 before saying hell with it and went got a sharp, flat head and a rubber mallet and just gave them a good tap. Hell of a lot less messy than metal shavings everywhere.

 

Been feeling patriotic so I pulled the trigger on a rear window flag. Middle slider was tricky but everything turned out great!

Huper Optik Ceramic i3 tint all around plus 56% on the windshield. While I've always tinted my windows on my vehicles, this is the first time to do the windshield. I'm very pleased with the overall performance.
