I’ll settle down a bit in a week or so. Just have to forget about my recent crossing of shit ass Nebraska on I-80. Do that a few times in a week and you too will want to murder some truckers.

I think idiots aren't vehicle specific but are more of a mindset issue.

And I agree with what others have mentioned, stay out of the left lane if not passing. I don't care if you're annoyed with having to use a blinker to switch lanes and decide to be lazy and stay in that lane. That lane is open because others decide to follow the etiquette that you choose to ignore.

I would just like to add that rubber neckers can be in that short list. Nothing goads me more than a 3 or more lane highway where all the lanes slow down because some people feel the need to stare at the cherries and berries.

Here we have a law that says you have to slow down to 35 mph when passing emergency vehicles. I always thought that was only if you were in the adjacent lane and that if you changed lanes, you could maintain the speed limit (60 or 70 mph, depending on the highway). It aggravated me to no end when someone would change lanes and also slow down and clog up the left lane.

However, I recently saw something that said "slow down AND move over" so now I'm not sure and I can't find anything that says what the exact requirement is.

We have to drop down 20 from the posted limit IF we are in the lane next to the stopped emergency vehicle.

In Texas it is 10 MPH under speed limit in the adjacent lane. The problem here is no one wants to 10 under and they are all trying to move over.

Good looking out. Thanks for the reference.

I apologize since I was on a rant and didn't clarify. I do understand that the adjacent lane needs to be vacated or slowed down. I was pretty much referring to the neckers who are either looking in the opposing lane or they are in the left most lane (in a multiple lane hwy).

Or the people who speed past you in the left lane then jump into the right lane right in front of you and lock the brakes until they're going slower than you were (and thus well under the speed limit) because they saw a cop going the other way.

I-80 is very familiar to me, but I've got a CDL and I understand that the drivers aren't doing it intentionally. Angels and assholes in all walks of life, and some of both are truckers too.

Gotta love a good stereotype. This thread made me chuckle, so I'll play. My neighbors have not one, but two Prius's (whatever the plural for Prius is...?). Whenever I see their garage door open, I stop what I am doing to watch, the entertainment is that good. I've seen garbage cans hit, garage doors nearly get taken out, other cars in our neighborhood get tickled, it is always a show. Living in a condo/townhouse, our driveways are small (15-20ft long total, my Tundra does not fit without hanging into the street) and it takes a good 60-90 seconds for them to back out every time. Some of the poorest spatial awareness I've ever seen in a driver. These are the people you dread in the Costco parking lot. So long story short, Prius.

Written by a current Tesla owner, ex BMW owner (x2) with a wife who sold her Mercedes for a Telluride. Apparently I'm the worst!

P.S. - I'll take anyone here for a ride in my Tesla to disprove their theory.

Jeep Grand Cherokee drivers stand out to me big time. They always seem to drive super aggressive.

4Runner/Taco drivers also tend to piss me off. Always somewhere very important to be, riding my bumper super close even though I am already doing 5-10mph over anyways, like they are gunna be late to the broverlanding convention or something.

Also, with regards to lifted trucks, I think the lifted truck is not the cause of the aggressive driving, but the aggressive driving and aggressively lifted truck are a result of the owners(renters) personality. It's the same jack asses that put LED bulbs in the craptastic halogen reflector headlights and blind everyone or drive around with their LED light bars on 24/7 and then tell you to get over it.

100% agree. A lot of responses to this thread seem to suggest that bad drivers are ones that go slower than I want or fail to get out of my way when I want them to. While I agree when they’re in the left lane, that’s not what I meant by “worst drivers”.

To me, bad drivers fall into one of two categories:

    1. The Road Rager: these drivers act like everyone else needs to bow to them. They blow stop signs, speed excessively (like more than 5 over on the interstate), cut people off, shoot gaps their vehicle *barely* fits into, don’t use their blinkers, and/or get road ragey when someone is in their way. They’ll even speed up to tailgate someone. If you’re looking for opportunities for confrontation on the road, you’re doing it wrong.

    2. The Scroller: this guy is easy to spot. In bumper-to-bumper traffic, look for the car that is a few car lengths back, gently swerving in his lane. He justifies playing on his phone by being so far behind the cars in front of him. (It’s safer that way, right?) This is especially infuriating when he’s in the left lane.

Honorable mention – The Left Lane Slowpoke: how this person doesn’t know that this is actually illegal in most states is beyond me. They’ll drive 5-10 under and won’t get over for anything. It's like they exist to prove a point that they're completely wrong about. Lol. Extremely frustrating. Brings out the 1. in me, tbh.

Note: People who drive under the speed limit in the right lane, as long as they are going at least the posted minimum, are not bad drivers.

I find a lot of folks driving older Toyota 4x4s will pull out right in front of me. This happens more when I'm driving the wife's Corolla but it happens enough when I'm in the 6k lb Tundra that I have to wonder at their intelligence.

Undoubtedly the most common douchebag behavior I see are the idiots messing with their phone at the intersection when the light turns green. Then they get mad when you give a polite honk to wake their dumb ass up.

    1. Suicidal crotch rockets - Most other terrible drivers I find to be generally annoying, but don't rise to the level that I despise these wanna be street racers. We live off a steep, winding, single lane country road, that's safe at about 35-45 mph, at most. It's also popular with crotch rockets, because they know there's no safe place for a sheriff to even attempt to pull them over. They regularly pass in the curves, in packs of 4-5, going at least 80, with no regard for the passing lines/ other vehicles/ etc. They are dangerous to the point I've had to instruct my wife that she is to run them over if they are in her lane, as opposed to swerving the car with our children off the steep embankment to miss them (obviously braking as hard as she can to avoid them, but under no circumstances is she to swerve and endanger our kids.) These idiots made their bed, let Darwin handle which ones survive. I've seen no less than a dozen fatalities being cleaned up from the shoulders, medians, etc. that they end up in after hitting a piece of gravel over the last few years, just during my commute.

    2. Dodge RAM 2500 Diesels - I don't think they let you purchase one without taking some sort of road rage/ aggressive driver training, as in how to drive like a total A-hole. I live in the mountains and they love to pass on the shoulder, ride everyone's ass at 10 over the limit, and roll coal at basically everyone who isn't in their club. Extra points if they have a single pipe sticking up through their bed, therefore completely ruining the utility of their pickup bed, unless they really like melted stuff.

    3. BMW/Audi - Typically they love to weave in and out of traffic, aggressively tailgate, then swerve around the driver in front, who is probably already going 10-15 over the limit, right as they are attempting to get out of the way. They frequently force me to fight the urge to brake check them, just to see how their front end does when it goes under my rear bumper, which lines up right at face height.

There's a road in our city like you describe in #1. No idea how many speed freaks have been killed on it and not just bikers. My dad's boss's son rolled his dad's Jaguar convertible there and the only reason he's still alive is because those cars at that time had a roll bar that pops out if they sense the car flipping over.
