Thanks for the post! I ordered mine and it will be here tomorrow just in time for nice weather to install. I really wanted this as my Iphone XR charging port was failing no matter which cable I used, I could wiggle it and it would drop out so less connections the better!

Because I live in a rural area I find mine works better if I keep my phone on 4G service because the LTE pretty much sucks.

So I finally got one of these but I must be doing something wrong. It connects fine when I plug it in but if I turn my truck off and back on I have to unplug the device and then plug it back in again to reconnect it. Any ideas?

I don’t have the Amazon one, but have not had that issue with mine. Perhaps make sure there isn’t a firmware update? I just had one show up on my CPLAY2AIR adapter today

I installed the alpine ilx f309 this weekend in my 2019 tundra. The quality of sound was drastic from Bluetooth connection compared to when I would plug in for apply CarPlay. I saw your video and ordered the Carlinkit unit so that I could have wireless CarPlay.

my question is when using the wired CarPlay the navigation voices and alerts were ear piercingly loud. I think I have that figured out in settings now. Is there anything like this that would have to be adjusted from the wireless single that any of you have noticed?

Nope. As far as your phone is concerned, it’s the same CarPlay settings

I ordered mine from the Carlinkit website.....shipped from China. I assume it will take a week or two to get here. Should have ordered from Amazon - would be here tomorrow if I ordered now!!!!

@2020Platinum - quick question. I just hooked mine up and got it working. Every time I start the car I get a black screen asking to connect to wifi.....is that normal? I would have thought after the first set up it would connect automatically. Just wanting to see if this is normal and consistent with the others using the module

This. I installed mine a few weeks back and it wouldn’t auto connect until I updated the firmware. Mine said it was up-to-date but I checked for updates anyway and there was a new one. Installed the new update and its been working great ever since.

Tried to update; says I have the latest version and nothing comes up when I ask to “check for updates”. This is the screen I get each time I start up the car:

    BED88C81-FDAF-4E6D-A9F7-85913756AFA6.jpg

It eventually opens up CarPlay after it recognizes the device but just trying to make sure this is supposed to be that way. It takes about 30 seconds to recognize and open up CarPlay

Check the build link in my signature.
That is the CarPlay module connecting to your phone first, then it switches the phone over to wireless CarPlay. It also gives you a little time if you have more than one device linked to it and you want to pick a specific device to use (tap the device you want to connect to on that screen).
For example, my daughter’s phones are connected as well as mine. If one of them wants to be the ones controlling the music, then I’ve got to connect to their phone even though mine is the one it would normally pair with.

Sorry man, just seeing this...but looks like ya got it taken care of!...Casey explained it perfectly above, takes about 30-40 seconds or so and you’ll always see that screen first but it should auto connect every time ya start the truck!

You’ll love it. I just used mine with google maps while playing tunes on Apple Music for a 4.5 hour (each way) road trip. It worked flawlessly there and back.

I have been using mine for the last few days; it takes a bit for the map to update / load accurate location after start up but that's my only "complaint". I have the wireless console charger so I just start the truck and put my phone on the charger and use the touch screen on the head unit to control everything. I ended up cutting a small notch in the dash panel and ran the wire and unit below the shifter - there is a carpet flap there. I put a piece of adhesive velcro on the back of the module and stuck the velcro to the carpet flap. Out of sight and works like a charm
