I have seen a few posts around here with some beautifully tinted trucks but it is hard to compare what everyone is getting in terms of tint. Are you tinting just the two front windows? All 4? or even the rear done? What %? If you have done some tint, please share photos of what you've done and the specs. Thanks!

I did 35% on rear passengers, rear window, and moon roof, 20% on front two, and 50% on windshield. I used ceramic and did all, including the moon roof, to reduce heat in summer. The factory tint is nothing but color and will do nothing to keep out heat/UV rays. This is the same percentages I've done on my my last 3 vehicles and wife's, no issues at night. The rears are dark, but I don't look through them to drive and the digital rearview makes it a non-issue.

It is quite bright today, you can see how nice the windshield cuts glare!

.......the caveat, it's not cheap putting ceramic on everything!!!

It depends on your State's traffic laws. Here in Washington the "limit" is 24%. The factory tint (supposedly it actually a dye of the window glass) is 24%. The place that a couple of us Washingtonians installed 25% film on driver/passenger windows...it matches the rear windows perfectly IMO

I did 35% all around which means the back is darker since it overlaid the factory tint.

…as I am another Washingtonian I wanted to stay above that legal limit (at least in front which I think is the one they enforce when they choose to)…and not have my wife and kids complain they cant see out during our darker months and at night

Im also in washington state. THinking about doing 20% on the fronts due to extra light coming in from windshield. side question, what is your lift wheel setup and where did you get the lift installed? i just ordered the westcostt 3/1.

Yes. Buy two sets. Your second attempt could possibly come close to being as good as a professional installer.

Ha! Tried it myself being cheap, and learned to just let a pro do it, or keep practicing until you get it right.

I did 20% on the front windows. I didn't do anything to the rear and it matches really well. I want to do the front, just haven't gotten to it yet. pic 1.jpg

I can only speak for myself....what a mistake that would be, lmao just picturing it. Usually, I underestimate a job and overestimate my abilities, not with this one! That would just be a wasted day and the expense of the tint, followed by a trip to a pro. Not going to lie, it did hurt me to pay as much as I did, but the place is very good at what they do.

My truck came with 4%, found out the actual darkness after getting a ticket. It was a little hard to see at night. The dealership fixed it. In Georgia 35% is legal on the front driver’s and passenger’s side windows. The back can be as dark as you want it. Now I am waiting on my court date to see if I can get out of it.

Been trying to decide what color to get if/when I eventually get a Tundra, and the rims + body color + tint color match up beautifully. Is that Magnetic Grey Metallic?

Thanks for sharing. I love the idea of tinting the pano window. Here in Ontario we aren’t allowed to tint the windshield so that’s a bummer. I like the idea of recoating the rears to give it a darker tint (as well as block out more UV for the kiddies).
    Keep ‘em coming!

Tinting the windshield is illegal in most states as well. I just keep my fingers crossed I won't get pulled over by "that guy".

Well that sucks…hopefully they give you some reprieve.

When I lived in VA (very long time ago) it was like 50% or something ridiculous like that…couldn’t tint the front or couldn’t even hang items from your rear view mirror (obstruct your view they say)

Went to FL for a couple of years and then returned back to VA and got a ticket my first day back for tint :(

Before and after. I did 5% on all the back windows and 20% on the front with dual layer ceramic.

My Tundra had tiny from the dealer already. Not dark enough, but will suffice for now.

scheduled for next week to have a paint correction done, ceramic coat interior/ exterior and a clear bra applied.

    I’ll do ceramic tint then.

all these pics makes me glad i went with a platinum. that chrome strip on the windows just irks me and the tint just hightlights it even more.

but on the flip side, that chrome window treatment makes the tint look darker.

Different tints have different color profiles. The rear looks different as the factory glass is tinted, which is why you have 15 and 5. The 5% tint shows significantly more of its color profile than the 15%. This is normal, though some tints may match better or worse. If this bothers you, you may need to have a shop run strips of several different brands or tiers of tints to find one that matches.

I did ceramic and 15% on the front and they did a good job to match the back and rear roll down window. Very happy with matching front and rear
