Will 295/70R18 tires really fit (and what does fit mean?)

I will let you know on Wednesday......got a Black Friday deal locked in on Ridge Grapplers, lift gets installed Monday-Tuesday. I almost broke down and bought 35s, but demonstrated some restraint...

Good deal, torn between the Ray10's and SR8's. Going to wait until these tires wear out before pulling the trigger.

Just had 295 Falken AT3W installed on Monday...no rub at all! Much better ride than with stock tires.

Have not had any rub never really been out on a technical trail just forest service roads and a few stumps to check the flex.

Oem tonneau, side steps, spray in liner. Trd skidplate.

Where are your front "splats", the small mudflaps in front of the tire? I agree with the ride, still have the "spats" with my 295's.

And so, my answer is “YES”, with a small but.....

My Toytec Boss installation is scheduled for tomorrow, so I installed the Coachbuilder bumper shims prior to the lift install and got to thinking, “looks like those tires might fit....”.

I test fit one front and everything cleared lock to lock. Installed other 3 tires/wheels and away I went. Drove about 10 miles around the local village and some mild “off roading” on the back of our place and all is good - no rub anywhere - without the lift installed.

    My specific set up:

    295/70R18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers
SCS Ray 10 wheels with +25 offset
Coachbuilder bumper shims installed totaling 1/2 inch.

Can’t really tell the bumper is spaced forward unless you were looking for it. BD6C6412-FC86-4B89-8E11-FEF694BC85AB.jpg

so no issues with the UCA's or with the stock suspension/wheels... these are great tires and my go to on my other trucks.

Specifically with a 19 TRD Pro as well..

Unsure if it was posted before but I didnt see it. Are you running any sort of lift? I have the factory TRD Off Road 2" lift and am looking to do the same on stock 18" wheels. Dont want to go any higher.

I assume you guys dont re-gear after doing this? How does the truck feel afterwards?

I have 295/70/18s on my 100 series LC, so I'd love to run this size, but I'm re-gearing that from the 4.30 to 4.88's. Obviously I have the 4.7, its much less powerful, yada yada... but I'd love some first-person feedback.

In this pic I am not running a lift but did install front bumper shims from Coachbuilder. Not sure how it would work with stock wheels. Mine are +25 offset.

From what I've gathered from multiple posts, I should be fine with this size tire (going Cooper STT Pros) and the factory TRD lift. Only issue people had were with 2018s/19s and the factory skid having to be bent/chopped. My 2020 skid doesnt have the wings that would get in the way, so I think I will be alright. Guess I'll just have to get it and try it out.

Do you have the TRD pro suspension? The TRD off-road and TRD sport are not lifted at all from the factory...

Believe it's the TRD off-road suspension. Don't remember the dealer saying anything about a Pro suspension. Truck appears completely level compared to a buddy's 2019 with no upgrades from a quick glance (nose is higher). I have yet to measure wheel to fender.

I did email custom offsets and one of their folks emailed me back and stated they're almost positive they'll fit with the specs I described.

Interesting.. a picture would be helpful. Was this a dealer build? Maybe they added spacers up front?

Yeah. 2020 CM Limited w/ (quoted from the salesman) a "TRD off-road suspension package, predator rails, and TRD dual exhaust" added as a dealer perk. I just found it and haggled for a good price lol.

Don't have any profile shots of the truck and it's too dark for anything right now. I'll get some tomorrow.

TRD off-road suspension is just stock suspension tuned slightly different. Same as the sport. But no lift. It’s what I have as well...
If you do grab a picture when it’s light outside we could tell pretty quickly. Just don’t want you to drop the coin on the tires and then find out they don’t fit...

Here's how it sits. Appears I have the HD Bilstein 4600s front/rear. So I dont think I have any true "lift." A suspension lift isnt out of the picture for me, I just wasnt sure if I could slap tires on how it sat and save some money for the time being.

You are correct, looks like the stock 4600s. You can definitely throw some bigger tires on there and skip the suspension lift for now. I know the 275/70 is a popular choice for something a little bigger without any modifications. Have you looked at the “official tire size” thread?
I ended up doing the lift and then tires since tires are so damn expensive nowadays.

Yeah I've stared at this forum until my eyes bled looking at lift and tire specs lol. And thanks man, yours too. I've got all chrome delete stuff in the mail being shipped here with a DB Custom grille as well. Figured I'd burn the suspension/wheels up some before buying new tires so I'm getting all the petty stuff out of the way first.

After hearing from everyone on multiple threads, I think I'll wait it out for the winter and I'll be purchasing a full suspension lift with the tires at the beginning of next summer. Somewhere around 3" and the 295s.

I hear you on that one. This forum is both a blessing and a curse. I can’t tell you how many times I thought I had made up my mind only to spend hours searching through threads and ending up right back where I started.. congrats on the new truck and all the new mods. It’s never ending :)

I would regear. It's the only thing that will bring you back to stock feel. Went from 30s to 34s on my old Jeep and had to throw some upgraded Nitro gears in to get my power back, and that was with a 3.7L v6. Not a Tundra first hand experience, but I would venture to say everyone that has seen both sides of it would suggest a regear for the power, if not the gas mileage issue alone. The Jeep felt like I was towing a camper behind it all the time before a regear and would constant search for gears on the highway. Here's a chart for reference.

Just my opinion only, having just gone to 295s in the past week, I am not gonna make the gear change. Mileage drop has been minimal, power Has been very adequate. Takes a lot of miles to pay back $2000+ worth of installed gears based on MPG.......if going with 35s or 37s, probably would make the change.
If the financial aspect is the motivation, your return will be MUCH greater (you can pay for the extra gas with the gain and keep your $2k) if you invest that $2000 in the market.....

Now the fun factor is another matter all together .

Kind of my point, I re-geared my 100 series Land Cruiser which has the same 4.30 gearing and same stock wheel diameter as the Tundra (wait, I might be lying but its close)... but the 5.7 is a lot more powerful than the 4.7 in my Land Cruiser. So I am hoping the feeling isnt nearly as much.

I dont feel like re-gearing another vehicle haha!

I would daily my Jeep with a 17.8 gal tank 50 miles about 3 days a week for work with 12.7 mpg lol. It was more of the convenience factor of not having to fill up 3 times a week. Plus I wheeled it at Rausch frequently and that 3.7L was a mule out of gear. I see your aspect of it tho. Once I make the swap to 295s, I'll be dropping 4.88s in. I also plan on dropping a Magnuson in next year and saying f*ck the factory warranty because why not lol. I've got big plans after this winter season is over.
