Why no love for Mesquite?

I wanted to keep my RWLs but I also wanted to go to 20s. Had to let them go

 

Day 2, first mod. More poke than I was expecting but is exactly the side profile I was going for. Stock suspension so far.

I think I'll do something about those chrome mirror caps on mine when (if??) it finally shows. I hope a paintable/pre-painted option exists somewhere.

Do these covers just pop off like the Tacoma? Supposed to be easy but I still managed to break one in my Taco while installing the MESO turn signal mod.

 

@MrKABC the covers do pop off. There is a flimsy hook inside the cover. I don’t know if it snapped off when I removed the cover or if it was never there. I couldn’t find it inside the mirror after I removed it. You can see the hook broken off in this video. I found if you pull out the outside of the mirror cover near the turn signal and work your way near the top, the other side snaps off will a little tug. Installation is the reverse but line up the bottom tabs first.

Can't wait to chrome delete and get some nicer wheels and tires. I'm hesitant to go the spacer route for leveling but still need to do some research, here are some pics. So far only added a mx4 bed cover and some accessories. Still can't believe this is my truck lol.

 

Well my Smoked Mesquite project is practically complete. I have a couple of fitment issues to address (bumper and exhaust) before it will be 100% done. Hind sight being 20/20 I probably would not have touched the mustache and would never went with the non-bar version of the covert bumper even though this is exactly what I was going for.

 

i waited 13 months for mine and said F’k it and bought a Pearl one.

I’m not sure if it’s the bumper causing it or not but the mustache sits a little above the hood and makes contact when closing. Hopefully it’s just a fitment issue and not a difference in the painted surround and the chrome one that came off. Also as much as I liked the look, the exhaust had to go. At 70-75 mph the sound was more than I prefer.

 

The mesquite color looks great just like a freshly detailed black truck without the headache of constantly washing it.

 

My tundra has the same thing on the same side I think I figured out whats wrong with that plastic piece. Try to find the clip holding it in place and you will need to shim it to bring the panels closer but I warn you your fingers will get sweaty and get 10 cuts that somehow appear magically when you go to wash your hands lol. I don't know how to go about getting that piece replaced by my dealer. They said to go to the dealership you bought it from and they can help you. Yeah okay I would but they haven't even sent me my finance docs and I've been reminding them every week.

 

Nice touch on the fender flares, why they can't offer that as an upgrade is beyond me. That looks great!

 

I am searching for someone who can wrap in wind chill pearl.

 

I love all the Mods you've done on your 1794. Where did you get the TRD flared fenders with the camo incorporated in the paint job?

 

I ordered a set of pro flares and had them painted by a local shop along with the grille surround and bumper arms. They asked if I wanted the pattern to show through…yes please.

 

@1794ELPTX i have spent some time at Ft. Bliss a “few” years ago. Probably looks a lot different there now.

 

How long ago, was that before the Armor Div move to Bliss? It has certainly grown since then.

 

It was ‘08-‘09 with an ADA unit HHB 3-3 before we deployed to Iraq. We were a C-RAM unit Army/Navy.

 

You wouldn't recognize Biggs Air Field. That is now called East Bliss, larger than the main post, home the Armor Division. I retired in 09 and decided to stay.

 

Do you have the lights working on the Pro fenders?

 

No but I have the plugs and they are shaved down to fit. I put off wiring them until I get this Covert bumper issue resolved. I’ll be pulling the grille off again tomorrow.

 

East Bliss? Wow that is a big change.

Finally found this truck on a toyota lot in Indiana, drove 5 hours to get it but definitely was worth it! Really loving this color. Am I crazy for thinking chrome actually looks good on smoked mesquite? I want to chrome delete but I’m on the fence.

 

Trust me you can’t go wrong either way. I deleted some but left the door handles, side emblem, 4x4, and exhaust tip. If you are interested I have the gloss black fender flares and carbon fiber tailgate letters. I have the letters for sale and will list the flares and some other chrome pieces this weekend.

 

Same I'm still undecided if I should chrome delete or keep the chrome and get some machined clear coated wheels for her.

 

Just chimed in to say, this an absolutely beautiful color. If I knew it existed prior to my Black Tundra. I would have waited for this color!! I think it’s more of a root beer color than Mesquite.
