There are some folks with plenty of money to burn. Of course they will sell them all. Not that many being made. Fiat might have a hard time selling 500,000 of them though.

It would be nice to have that kind of money to burn , I’ll bet we hardly ever see a launch edition because the people that bought them probably are going to put them away just like the Demons .

I don't know why anyone would buy a Dodge. Any bit of research shows their terrible reliability record. One guy at work had a Lifetime Bumper to Bumper extended warranty on his RAM. The thing broke down so much that Dodge told him he ran out of his lifetime coverage. Imagine that. His RAM is currently in the shop for a transmission replacement; it has been there for about a month now and they say that it will take another 45 to 60 days before he can get a transmission - the backlog of people waiting for replacement transmissions is that long. He just left the truck there and bought a Silverado last week.

    Some people will never learn.
He is from Michigan so he will never buy anything that is not domestic (even if it is assembled in Mexico). He likes my Tundra and his wife drives a Tacoma, but he will never cross the line. His Silverado is a HD diesel with the Duramax/Allison combination which is a proven drivetrain, so he has that going for him.

I hope the next Tundra comes out with a performance package called "Chicxulub" or "Asteroid".

I would get it on principle alone.

It took Toyota 17 years to bring back the Supra... in name only. Hopes to having something competing with a Raptor or TRX is just a dream, which IMHO is 100% doable, Toyota has multiple Baja 250-500-1000 and Dakar champions in it's payroll, it'd be super easy to gather the talent. Engine wise... they'd probably have to develop a 6.0 L plus V8 out of the UR platform and also SC it.

Toyota likes to stick to the safe side of things and not make over the top things like the TRX. They will keep the TRD series because it sells so well. Sure HEMI’s are fun, but they’re only going to last half as long as Toyota engines

Everybody here is saying it's too damn expensive but we thought the same when Raptor was a concept. I personally thought it would be pretty rare to see them, but them Ford guys will pay top dollar for a premium Ford package and the Mopar guys are no different. It should be no surprise that they sold out, and I won't be surprised if they increase production to sell more.

Mopar has always been a bit cartoonish, and their fans have always been on the loud and flashy side. Just think of their old colors like plum crazy or sublime green, that doesn't grab the attention of the sensible. Might be cool to see driving by, but would you pay for that? Probably not if you are in here. Unleash something like this, driven by a hellcat motor and a blatant attack on Ford, the Mopar fans MUST have it.

As far as the "for that much I can do x,y,z to a Tundra" goes, that's true and we all said the same when raptor came out. Quite a few of you have 70k in your Tundras. There are a lot of people who just wanna buy as-is and don't have the creativity or want the headaches of making a truck "better". How many threads have you seen "I want 35s, help me fit them"? This truck has 35s from the start. Wanna spend $1500 on exhaust to gain 30hp? This truck doesn't need to and still has you beat.

Toyota won't build something to compete with a model like this. It isn't their style. They practice Kaizen, not this American technique of slapping a bunch of cool shit on a truck and see what happens.

Nothing like buying a $70k off road truck to take your kids to hockey practice. (My perception based on the Raptors I see. YMMV.)

Same reason Tundra owners buy 6" lifts and put 35" mud tires on truck that will only see off-road to the tune of some wet grass at the tailgate party or camp site roads. They want to flex. Either for themselves or for others.

This horsepower war in the pickup truck market will potentially vanish if certain CAFE standards and regulations are overturned along with oil production being cut, get them while you can!81855f725ebe402321fce432f12e44d2.jpg

It'll probably just go electric hybrid. Where there's a will, there's a way. Dead things aren't the only fuel source on this planet. I'm a proponent of hydrogen.

The 966 pound payload on the TRX that TFLTruck had for the Ike Gauntlet test killed it for me. I thought the 1,200 pound payload of the Raptor was acceptable for an "offroad oriented" truck.
