Ah. I live in the South and was considering only off-road situations. I still haven’t used the ATRAC in my Tundra. But you’re right, you have to rev it in 4Lo to some extent to get it to engage. If you all of a sudden get traction before ATRAC engages, I could maybe see it doing a milder version of the G80 grab-n-launch.

I spent a lot of time with ATRAC on in my old 4Runner. It was selectable with a button in 4Lo. No revving required.

I am waiting into 2021 now. 99k and change on my 09 Crewmax. I was liking the Silverado until I rented one and wasn’t wowed by the driving experience. Ride and shift quality felt 2004 vintage, not 2020.

    Rams too expensive.

    Unsure about Ford quality.

    Hate the Titan’s look.

Gonna wait until the Tundra comes out. I do not buy anything just out so if I like the specs I probably won’t make a move until 2-3 years into the next body style.

My plan is to buy the current V8 generation around summertime but I will be curious to see what the specs are on the new tundra.

Rams too expensive ? Around this area they’re the second cheapest new truck you can get , the cheapest being the F150 XL . It’s so weird how the prices vary depending where you live .

Not sure where your area is, but it seems to be the same here in Maine. But to get the ram i really would want it would be the most expensive buy a bit. Msrp of 72k.
How has your ram been treating you so far?

Maybe he meant for the problems you're likely to have, they're way too expensive even if they are on the cheaper end.

I agree that ATRAC will get you out of many situations where a locker is necessary. My dislike of ATRAC though is that it kicks in based on wheel slippage. Wheel slippage, in many cases, creates environmental damage. There is a skid, gouge, etc, in the trail.

The likelihood of a locked vehicle being able to crawl through the same terrain with little or no wheel slippage is higher. It can maintain a consistent and slow speed, with less wheel slippage and less damage to the trail.

So the moral of the story is all lovers of the environment need lockers. :D

I remember wheeling out at Land Between The Lakes last year in my old 4runner. Had the whole family with me. I approached a deep washout on a trail at an angle to make sure I wouldn't smack my stock bumper. I went slowly at just the right angle to get hung up with my front passenger side wheel and rear driver side wheel in the air. I told the kids that we're stuck. After the mud pits and trails we'd been through, they thought it was impossible for the 4Runner to get stuck. I hit the gas and my free-hanging wheels just spun. We talked about open differentials and why they're needed on pavement but how they work against you off road. Then I told them that the 4runner has a secret weapon. I hit the ATRAC button and crawled right out with very minimal wheel spin. The kids though it was the coolest thing.

I wish the Tundra's ATRAC was selectable and sensitive like the 4Runner. I didn't have to spin the wheels a ton to get it going. It sensed the tractionless wheels immediately and went to work.

That's a great point about environmental impact. If you're spinning out the entire trail, I'm sure you're also wearing your tires prematurely and possibly throwing dirt/rocks at others as well.

MSRP is a joke , Ram has been taking 15 - 25 % off MSRP in my area for about 8 years now . But the sticker price is definitely higher .
I haven’t had any problems with mine , it’s only been back to the dealer twice for oil changes and tire rotation .

You’d have to go at least 4-5 years old now , the 2019 and up Rams are selling for more than we paid for them . It’s ridiculous the prices of used right now .

Seriously?! Holy crap. I knew the used market was insane but that’s nuts, especially for a Ram

These are the prices around here . The Big Horn would be the equivalent of the SR5 . The last pic is the top of the line Limited , however it is a 2020 .145B1DB8-DF3F-4D8B-B43A-2430DEE0CA8F.jpgCAE76B21-3187-455B-BAE2-04293345F0F2.jpgAB950E9A-2E2B-4A52-B777-46038FA4A4EE.jpg

I was going to trade in my truck this year, but there isn't anything out that blew me away. We ended up upgrading our 5th gen 4Runner to a 5.7 Land Cruiser. They say the Land Cruiser won't be sold here after the 200 series comes to an end (next year), it will only be sold as the Lexus LX.

If they keep the 5.7 as an option and put the 8 speed behind it that's in the Land Cruisers, I'd probably upgrade to the new Tundra. I love the 5.7/8 speed combo in the Land Cruiser. With a deeper rear end in a Tundra, it would be perfect.

I'm not sure if I'll like a V6TT in the next Tundra. I think the Toyota V6TT will have better reliability than the big 3 halfton offerings, I think it'll be hard to beat the 5.7 iForce's reliability. Aside from cam tower leaks and the AIP pumps, these are very solid motors.

The F-150 Ecoboost pulls great, and has power for days but I don't like the way they sound.
This doesn't do it for me, I'd have to keep it 100% stock
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDlinjF0K_c

On the flip side, Toyota/Lexus has been making minor tweaks to the LS500's 3.5 TT for a few years, I'm sure most of the bugs will be worked out if that's the motor going into the Tundra. And one of the huge advantages of the V6TT's is you can tune them for huge power. But given how long it took tuners to crack the 07-20 Tundra ECU, I doubt it'll be tune-able for years.

Current spy shots are love it or hate it, I honestly like the 2014+ styling better than what I'm seeing. But a lot of people hated the 2007 and 2014 spy shots and now I think everyone has warmed up to the 2014+ refresh.

I had to do a double take on that price for the limited. If I was going to switch the limited is the only way I would. It is a great looking truck with an exceptional interior. I don't drive as many miles as I used too, so I don't need a truck that holds its value past the 100k mark.
But at the same time, I have really enjoyed all 4 of my tundras, not sure I can take such a big leap of faith with a fca product. Everyone has stories about how they are crap, but people I talk to that drive them don't have anything bad to say.
If the new tundra was already on the market it would make my decision a lot easier.

Don’t get me wrong , I’m not saying anyone should jump on the Ram bandwagon . I know quite a few people around me that haven’t had any problems with theirs either but everyone should buy what they’re comfortable with as far as I’m concerned .
I felt the same way about Chrysler products from the time I was 13 years old lol . When I did get one it was because of necessity for a minivan when my third child was born and the Grandcaravan was 1/2 the price of Honda , Toyota and Kia so that’s what made me try them . Since then I haven’t had a reason to go to another manufacturer yet .

The wife has already told me to go buy this if its what I want, but still worried about ending up with buyers remorse. I love the color and the fact that it has every option. If it had a Toyota emblem on it, it would already be in the garage Screenshot_20201204-112717_Samsung Internet.jpg

Ram is in the same boat as Ford for me. Not even on the consideration list. I'd drive a Ridgeline before I drove a Ram or a Ford. Doesn't say much about Ram when The Woman's uncle is a Ram sales manager and flat out refuses to sell to friends and family due to the poor quailtt of Ram trucks.

    Call it, Friendo.
I've got a lifetime powertrain warranty on my 2016 through my dealer so tough call as to when but yes, I'm getting one. I'll likely wait for them to be out a year. My brother will be getting one so I'll see how his experience goes.

The newest Rams are proving to be pretty good trucks so I wouldn't bother with a used Ram. I would call Dennis Dillon, finish the deal over the phone and fly in, they will pick me up and will be back on the road home within a couple of hours. Spend a week or two breaking it in at some great destinations on the way back. (I'm on the east coast right now). This dealer sells huge volumes and at times their prices are extremely good. I almost did this this year, but decided on another Tundra.

You can pretty much guarantee that the Lexus LX will come with the same drivetrain as the new Tundra. The V8 is gone.

That $72k CAD Tundra must be a Pro or a typo. Out west a 2021 SR5 CM is dealer asking of about $53k CAD.

NO LONGER HAVE A TUNDRA... Waiting
I sold my 2018 Sport a couple months ago because my wife had to quit her job due to covid and watching the kids at home. But if by 2022, she is back at work.. I might bite if the price is right.

Otherwise I'll try to find me a clean 2nd gen.
