lol, I bought the 2017 because it didn't have all that garbage. Waste of money and source of frustration when it acts wonky. Completely unnecessary nannies that make people lazy, inattentive drivers.

Looks like very small brake rotors too.
I wonder if this is on the 4runner or Tacoma chassis.

Interesting read about the the future Tundra.

I still see a mix bag in here on people still discussing a diesel option. I don't know why people insist on having a diesel for the Tundra, its never going to be offered in the US Toyota format. Especially now all diesels must meet the new diesel standards. Any diesel produced for all non commercial vehicles will have the DEF fluid. The DEF fluid does help commercial vehicles become more pollution free, but as a non commercial use, I don't see a reason for it. Not when a Hybrid is being offered.

Our crews run commercial trucks with diesels and the DEF fluid is a royal pain to deal with. Any truck that we still have without the DEF fluid gives me the least amount of downtime. The Newer vehicles with DEF, normally doesn't have a dip stick to check fluid levels. The crap needs to exact on replacement or fill up, if not your bound to trip sensors. In our fleet of vehicles, I've had to replace NOX sensors and the heater for the DEF fluid all in the tune of $5k. Now keep in mind vehicles are up to six years old and these were replaced four times already. Two were covered under warranty and two were not. If we take the expenses we have for a diesel equipped vehicle versus a gas counterpart. A gas version is way cheaper to run and service. Diesel may have been a great option before 2010, but to tell me now its a better option? I wouldn't think so. as our vehicle get cycled through we are looking at different options.

As for my truck I absolutely love it, yea the gas mileage could be a LOT better, but I really love the sound of the 5.7 motor. Throw on a Dirty Deeds exhaust and a grin always shows up when I drive it.

Whether we like it or not the future of the hybrids and electric vehicles are here to stay. I'm interested to see what technology will show up with with an all electric pickup, such as Tesla and named marques out there. As technology progresses things get better or worse depending on how how its viewed.

    Just my .02

I wanted the TSS but I understand why others don't. My favorite feature so far included along with TSS is the radar cruise control.
I don't want a hybrid I'm in the camp of they're more of a marketing gimmick than long term economic advantage even though they are popular.
I would love to have a diesel, but not a new one with all the "emissions" crap. Toyota does make great diesels for other parts of the world but I don't see them offering one anywhere with ridiculous emissions regulations.

I'm not trying to instigate anything here.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the vast majority of people with a locking diff have never, or rarely had a call for it. Most of us don't offroad whether fir fun or by circumstance.

In 9 years of ownership I used the LRD twice in my Tacoma. Once to make sure it worked, and the other was to pull one of those BMW roadsters out of a snow bank along the interstate.

So to those among us who have never had a locking differential, having one would likely not change their minds.

My truck only has lane departure warning and pre-collision warning and braking. The LDW can be left off all the time. You have to turn the pre-collision off each time you start the truck and then there's a warning light on the dash to tell you it's off.

I'm not sure about the BSM and parking sensors on the higher end trucks.

My 2018 has a bunch of stuff I ignore and don't know how to use. But I'd rather have it than not have it.

Pre collision has told me to brake a couple times in the last two years and it's usually an indication I'm driving like a jackass. None of the TSS stuff bothers me or causes a problem, other than occasional ice on the sensor in the winter.

If this is indeed the new "look"... no thanks,,, Aesthetics are important to me, and this is not a "tough" truck look.. I get it, it should appeal to a lot of concrete cowboys,,,, but not this guy

I don't see the new Tundra looking better than my truck, nor do I want additional gadgets. I don't want to be the guinea pig for the new platform and I like my V8. Unless my trailer situation changes, which is unlikely, I'm all set and not interested.

My wife will probably trade her 4Runner in for a Tesla, so she can be our environmental spokeswoman.

I haven't seen a way to turn off the BSM. Not sure why anyone would want to, it's just a yellow light on the mirrors.

I live in snow country. My old Chevy, '98 Z71, was a breeze to drive around in two wheel drive with less than eight inches of snow on the ground. My Tundra can't even get out of the driveway in two wheel drive if there's even two inches of snow on the ground. That's all I need to know about locking rear diffs..

If the 2022 gave me a truck that gets 30 mpg then I would sure be interested in it, as long as it didn't climb a hill like a Tacoma.

If you can't get out of the driveway in 2wd with two inches of snow, it's you, your driveway, or your tires.

No, it isn't. In two wheel drive it simply won't go. The regular "traction control" prevents any throttle usage and I think it's stupid that Toyota has decided that what you must do to get going is push a button for traction and then push it again to prevent damage to your vehicle. My Chevy just went.

If Toyota doesn't put an actual locker in their Tundras real soon, I definitely won't be buying a Tundra. Sorry if I hurt your feelings about your Toyota loyalty.
