That's the problem with Toyota trucks--they last so long a lot of repeat customer business never happens.

When theres a diesel... I might be intrigued to upgrade. Until then, my 2015 does the job just right.

@Rex Kramer Thanks for that video link it was very informative. I even got new knowledge in why a Turbo gas is worse on fuel loaded then a NA engine. The video had a lot of other interesting things but that one stood out the most since it has to do with what is out there today. EDIT: I only watched the Tundra portion of the video.

What I get from that video is the new Tundra will still have a NA V8(at least available)with a power bump. Put a dead nuts reliable 10-speed behind it, modern interior and take my money!

I won't be waiting on the next gen tundra to buy for at least 2 to 3 years ,im gonna sit back and enjoy my 2020 AG Tundra Pro for a while and it will be paid for this time next year,so gonna sit back and watch to see what becomes of the new Tundra V-6 twin turbo as far a longativity, reliability, and what new owners have to say good or bad ,that will be a turning point for me imo.

I definitely won't be buying one the first couple years they come out. If I do get one depends on how soon I either run out of payload or blow up the transmission on my current truck and whether the new one competes with the domestics in terms of capability.

Originally, I planned to have truck paid off by Oct/Nov. 2020 and enjoy the payment free lifestyle.
However, thanks to pending divorce/separation now hanging over my head I may sell/trade in and lease a tundra 2021 Model as a temp. Measure until things settle down.
Or keep the 2017 CM, coz at this rate I’ll be living in it, down by the river...

I’m still going to keep my 2017 regardless.

I’ll wait a few years after the next major overhaul. I was burned once by a different manufacturer. I spent more time getting problems fixed and recalls done than driving it. Sold it and took a financial bath. I love Toyota’s reliability and engineering, but I’ll still hang on a couple years until the bugs get worked out.

Back to 6 lug, that is interesting. Wonder if us first gen guys will see new OEM takeoffs to browse through.

I ordered a 2021 on Friday, after learning the new model won't be in dealerships until the end of NEXT year.
I just couldn't wait that long and I console myself with the knowledge that it's a good idea to wait a year for a total re-design, just in case there are glitches.

Will it have a mechanical locking rear diff.? If not, I'll be buying a domestic truck next time.

I’m gonna be honest. I’m in a Tundra now directly because of the 2014 Silverado redesign.

I bought a 2014 Silverado and had it for 30k miles and it was in the shop OVERNIGHT 36 times in 30k miles. Traded it in on my Tundra in 2017 and haven’t had an issue since.

I realize that all manufacturers will have recalls based upon redesign.

I WONT be in a truck until the bugs are worked out.

    P.s. I’m loving my tundra

I want to know if that turbocharged v6 will be offered in the Tacoma. That would be cool.

    That was a good video.
So no 3/4 tons or diesels, ever.
    Tacoma's are the future.
May see a v8 hybrid, he did not seem to like turbos.
He said tow 12k over and over, no Toyota can currently do that, will new one be able to tow 12k?

How much payload do the Tacoma's have, will the new tundra be a Tacoma with a v8 hybrid that can tow 12k pounds on paper but be limited to pop-ups due to payload?

Maybe Toyota can team up with Ford and make a new diesel truck? You know, like they did with BMW and Subaru...

I’ll be adding a diesel to the stable next year. Looks like it won’t be a Toyota :(

No it's not. If you've ever owned a truck with an actual locking rear diff. you'd know that.
