My wife has recently had to go on a highly restrictive diet for health reasons [she is vegetarian trying to transition to vegan]. So, this is affecting my life.

Thanks to you asshats, I guess I'm going to try this.:frusty:

Here's my 80's thinking plan [I'll never come into the future:help:]:

My wife will make the evening meal [whatever it is].

I will live on this, otherwise [as I am working on my 'retirement' body:D], all of which I can order on Amazon to make my protein shakes [I have a high dollar blender]:

    • a mixture of unsweetened, vanilla flavored almond milk and coconut water
    • Keto [raw] nuts mix
    • Mixed, dried fruit [no sugar added]
    • Steel cut oats [uncooked]
    • Either Garden of Life or Bob's Red Mill [raw, organic, vegan protein--non-GMO--non-gluten]
    See, I've simplified this.

If I am 'Jonesing', I'll have a cocoa chocolate [like 1 gram of sugar].

And occasionally, when I feel like it, I'll drink too many bloody Mary's at a friend's house or go out to eat a regular meal [cuz I'm NOT in a cult].

P.S. I'm naturally high every day of my life or I'd smoke weed too.:rasta: Some of us are just lucky, I guess.:D:bananadance:

    tl;dr most of this thread...

But I'll fess up. I began eating 100% vegan at the end of 2018 and haven't looked back. Originally thought about letting myself cheat once in a while with pizza or some other craving but that never happened. I don't really give a shit what other people are eating, as long as they let me do what I want, and can shut up about our different choices. If someone wants to have a discussion about why a plant based lifestyle is for me, cool, otherwise take a walk if you want to argue. And for what it's worth I really hate hippies. And preachy vegans.

Got a hold of this book How Not to Die by Michael Greger and it has helped me eat well every day.

There's a 12 item checklist and an app that makes it easy to satisfy my daily needs.

All joking aside, I'm glad you found something that works for you, and that you are ok with others doing the same. Kinda the way it should be.

Sounds like the same anger I have when people react to when I say where I'm from.

I think the key here is balance. My partner and I are trying to INCREASE our plant intake right now without worrying about our meat intake. Our meat intake has automatically dropped due to the increase in plant. I enjoy some vegan and vegetarian foods, she's a bigger meat eater than I, but her pallet is expanding. The issue I have is that I'm hungry AF like an hour after eating a plant based meal.

I have a similar issue, but I'm also on a meal schedule of eating every 2 hours, so it's expected.

And you teased enough that I have to ask, where are you from that gets a reaction that irks you?

I've got no problem with vegetarians.

Vegans on the other hand........I call then VAGANS....as in people from the star Vega......because they have ceased being part of the human species.

If it neither picks my pocket, nor breaks my leg, what do I care? (paraphrasing somebody... Ben Franklin I think.) As long as it's not going to be forced on me, I have no issue with vegans. I also still consider them members of the species. We could do worse than people wanting to be kind to animals.

Are you eating it cooked or raw? One thing that really surprised me was that eating raw vegetables naturally suppresses my appetite [at least to some degree, more than I would have imagined]: I think it is the live enzymes and increased nutritional content of the food [maybe?:notsure:]

Cooking it makes it easier to digest. The sugars and protein molecules can be processed faster since the heat already broke some of their bonds.

Or maybe the raw stuff was so awful tasting that your is begging “please no more no more” :p joking of course

But see that IS the problem with Vegans.

Being kind to animals is vegetarians. Good for them. No problem at all.

Being a rabid revolutionary who despises the human race....thats the Vegans. Insurgents bent on overthrowing the entire human species.
