Sounds reasonable. There is an order to things. I have cats and I know that they would be coming after me if there was no food for them.

For what it's worth....I have a good friend who goes back to Viet Nam every year to see his relatives. He always tells me about how good grilled rice paddy rats taste. Doesn't name them but I would try it....fattened rice rats....yummy...

They would have to be flattened first or they would run off the grill. ;)

Does sound better than rat on a stick.

Not a problem there. The paddy rats are so big they're bbq'd on a spit.

Tha's actually a good idea. Stake the cat out in the yard...coyotes or dogs come in...bang flop. My Asian friend tells me dog is actually quite good. Can't say I'll have the desire to try it until SHTF though...

And chickens for poached eggs. Save the chickens. Besides...1 egg layer hen could be bartered for a 1 month supply of TP!

At any given time we have 30-40 free range chickens around our place, all pets. A bunch of different breeds, my favorites are the bantys (blue old English, Faverolles, etc.). Great eggs from all of the hens and at times they are coming out our ears. Lots of fun!

We'd love to be able to have more than 4 chickens but we are already over the legal limit. The chickens have a decent size run but we do free range them in the back yard daily (drives the dog nuts). Hoping to start getting eggs soon.

Stay out of Walla Walla then, Walla Walla county is ok, because the Californians/everyone moving here for wine crap is causing taxes to soar. Been in my house for 4 years and my tax value has grown 40k more than what I bought it for already.

Nice to have the value of your house increase but yes, we want to avoid paying crazy high prices for a house. Here in the bay area, 40-50 year old ranch style house can go for over $1M. We've been in our house for 17 years so hoping to cash-out when the kids graduate HS.
