Hey Keith im loving the Bd Tuner. I even noticed a slight mileage increase even though im running the premium tune. Combined with your 6” bam system i’m running, what would you guess the power/ torque estimate to be now? The truck drives lightyears better and sounds great. Its hard to stay outta the throttle. Just curious what you thought might be my gains with the stock air box.

You’ve gained the higher end of 3-10hp and 10-20tq to the rear wheels over stock;)

Glad you like it. Thanks for posting!!

Nobody that I know of has written a tune using HPtuners for a truck with stock exhaust manifold naturally aspirated.

HPtuners doesn’t write tunes. It’s a tool that a good tuner can use to write tunes. Given its resolution it has the capability to more finely tune a tundra than anything else out there, but again, nobody has done this yet as far as I know.

I worked with Bullydog several years ago to write some custom tunes. And I gotta say, naturally aspirated, our truck are maximized in HP/TQ. There isn’t a lot left on the table by Toyota.

When tuning said set up, it more about the way the power comes on and how the truck feels.

That’s why I recommend Bullydog over anything else. They’ve taken the time to offer several options for the way the truck can be set up. They optimize for towing. Economy. Or performance amongst other things. They also remove speed go governor. Customize how the truck shifts. And how the throttle feels.

No other tuner avaialable for a tundra offers this many options.

DAP Tune, it's well worth the money.

    rs=h 83.jpg

    I tuned my '07 5.7L 12/01/2018 and I am loving it.
Note: I had to upgrade my tires to match the new high speed capability.

Easy installation, and it makes the truck drive like I want it to.

Well then in the case can you PM me price for the BD. I already have your 6" bam system. Does it change the speed of the shifting at all? that's where I feel it needs the most improvement.

@dirtydeeds, do you know if the BD tuner deals with AIP pump issues like the DAP tune does?

You will want to use the bypass made by HewittTech

No tuner actually turns off Aip. They only stop the monitor from running. This shows up as a monitor thst is incomplete. You do t want monitors incomplete. Leaving them unchecked is like leaving everything in limbo. The ecu never evolves last thst point.

Just installed my bullydog bdx from @dirtydeeds

This product is the real deal. Trans shifts better, throttle is actually responsive, major power gains in mid/upper range with premium fuel. It really drives like a different truck. You don’t realize just how LAME the factory program is.

I wish i had bought this years ago

    Thanks @Hbjeff

Each unit has its place. Best way to distinguish the difference:

If you intend to download only one tune, and that’s it. Then the bdx would be most convenient. It can only configure and store one tune. You could change to tow every so often, or economy. Or whatever besides that one tune. But it’s tkne consuming because you have to download it from the internet every time you want to change.

But if you want to switch between different tunes often. Like economy during the week. Performance just for weekends. And tow on holidays. Then get the gt platinum. It stores 3 tunes and its relatively easy to switch from tune to tune.

The both offer the same tunes/options. It’s just a matter of which tunes fit your use of the truck best.

My position since they released the tuner in 13’ has been to help choose options since I’ve tested literally every tune they offer, plus did a bunch of prototyping with bullydog. When I text over the options to use call bullydog and make their tech support team stay on the phone with you until the download is complete.

It’s actually really easy. Just a lot of steps. Tech support is really good about helping. And they will want to get off the phone when not needed anymore. But I always make em stay on jist for the warm and fuzzy reassurance.

I never heard of a major tuner when I had a 1st gen. When you think about it, the gen 1 engine/trans is a lot simpler than the gen 2. There just aren’t as many nanny controls for a tuner to circumvent.

Alientech provides a tool to break into the ecu on a 05-06, but as of now nobody has taken advantage of this ability.

How exactly does the BD help fuel economy? What tell the engine to do / not do?
