Funny I ran across this thread b/c I just sold my 19 SR5 to carvana after a buddy told me about his deal. They gave me over 3 grand more than I paid new OTD for my 1 year old truck with 13xxx miles.

Took their money to the dealership and bought a new 2020 SR5 with leather for almost a grand less OTD than they paid me for the 19. Free upgrade. Thank you Carvana.

I was EXTREMELY skeptical at first but it was legit.

If you go to Tacoma World there's a CARVANA thread there. Some of the prices they are offering now are crazy. Several people took the offers they were given and came out ahead of the game. :crapstorm:

So clearly there is something going on in the truck market.

I’m hoping sept/oct the market will cool a bit and I can buy a replacement.

    I just got last month 2010 CM SR5 2wd for $11,500
    With only 72,500 miles
Then I picked up a retrax bed cover for only $600 which was 2yrs old basically new.

I got this from an older guy who basically fell on hard times. He was asking 17.500 and he was selling on FB but had it listed as 4wd and it wasn’t and he didn’t even clean the truck. Found out that local Toyota dealer offered him to pay off loan + $5000 cash basically same amount I offered him. I told my wife I wouldn’t pay $1 over 12,000 because I wanted 4wd, anyways all I asked him was “what’s your price range? You already told me what the dealer offered you how much more do you want?” We talked a little more on his front porch and he was like $11000-12000 and he lived only 2 miles from my mechanic he gave me the green light.

I just checked carvana and about fell over

how are you able to pay this forward to him?
he sold his truck because of hard times, let it go
some bags of groceries? Some nice fresh meat for his freezer
sure his hard times aren't gone and summer is almost over
    what a profit margin!

Just for kicks I went to Carvana for a quote...
Okay quote for my immaculate 2015 SR5 TRD with 31,000 miles...$27,700.
It knocked the offer down another -$6,200 for Local Market Adjustment...~$21,500...
I guess SW Michigan may not be hurting for trucks as much as other areas of the U.S.

Well the other parts of the story he was 67 yrs old he was trying to get on unemployment I had some contacts with them and made a few text messages and helped him with that.

The killer part of the story, he never cleaned out the truck LITERALLY his wife stood by with a trash bag and I put all of his stuff in the trash bag to be sorted out later. They didn’t care about the fact his car was full of meds debit cards he didn’t care.

So days later I was detailing the car and found in the glove box a gold mother’s ring (really really short version, long version is way cooler) anyways I called him up stopped at his house gave him back the ring, he broke down crying it was his mother’s in laws ring the ring was 93 yrs old, ring went missing 4 yrs ago. Guy was super happy, I totally could have kept/sold it but that wasn’t even an option.

I was seriously considering taking my Carvana offer for my 2019 (which was $3k more than I paid) but I also love my truck. It has no issues runs great and why would I risk possibly getting rid of a truck that to me is perfect?

If someone offered 3k more than what you paid I’d call that a Win. That even covers your tax!

Just food for thought for anyone trying to sell privately, just based on my experience.

I tried selling my 2015 tacoma for 3 months prior to just bending over and trading in.
That said I’ve come to realize the private market is really best for the sub $25k as most people looking for cars greater than that are looking to trade in vs buy, even with financing.

I was a bit irritated as my truck was sold locally within a day by someone that simply traded in their 2014 on my 2015 DCSB Supercharged Manual 4x4 taco....dang I miss that truck.

Less than a month ago KBB quoted me just over 12k for my 07 dc. Today it s $15,375. I was just on credit karma, and it stated my 07 is worth $8,300.00.
[IMG]Kelly bluebook price, and that s just in good condition.

[IMG]Credit karma price. Is that a joke or what?

Not really on topic, but if the extended warranty was really saving everyone money, how come there are so many people selling them. I think all that stuff is a scam, I have yet to have any repairs in the first 150k that weren't normal wear items.
