Looks great, do you remember which product code you chose for your style steering wheel. Looking to upgrade as well.

What if any harnesses did you have to buy to hook this HU up? According to the listing it looks like it comes with everything. My stock HU is experiencing some difficulties connecting via Bluetooth for phone calls, even though it's connected for music.

I did not get this exact unit from Amazon. I got a used unit from a member but I remember it having most of the correct harnesses. I think I got a usb adapter to retain the factory port as well as a satellite radio adapter. Have not used either since installing so prob not worth it.

I don't remember any product code, but also installed a black, perforated cover from "Loncky" off Amazon. Ordered off the date range since I think theyre all the same size. I chose red thread since I have a few other red accents around the interior of the truck.

Didn't use any adheasive in case I have to rewrap in the future. Only spot it made a difference was on the backside of the two lower spokes, as the leather didn't tighten fully against that contour and has a few mm of deflection. Sometimes I play with it while sitting in traffic (easy fellas).

Had it on without issue for around 2 years now

    Looks fantastic!
I should add I also did not use the tape and found the same to be true behind the lower spokes. If I were to do it again I would probably use a small amount in just this area.

Yeah I saw in your post that it was a similar unit, not exact. Should've clarified in my initial question. For the price I'm gonna pull the trigger and see what happens though. I can buy any harnesses after the fact if I need too. Thanks again @Shanet421

Last question, do your steering wheel controls still function? Thansk again.

Pulled the truck into the car-hole (sunday) to tear apart the lower dash on both sides. I needed to run wire harnesses to install the Fortin branded remote start, programed by "warmcarnow".

I only opted for the basic system using the factory remote, and have to say it's a really well thought out and constructed kit. Install was pretty straight forward and ALMOST 100% plug-n-play. Since our Tundra has the factory alarm system, one has to tap one, single, tiny wire.

Of course this tap was the ONLY hangup during the install process. The wire to be tapped was on the small side of the range for the provided posi-tap, and I had to reseat that fucker twice to actually make the connection. I WOULD SUGGEST FLATTENING THE WIRE SLIGHTLY WITH SOME PLIERS PRIOR TO ATTEMPTING THE TAP. This wire is to prevent the alarm from sounding after the remote start "times out"

The system is working beautifully, and I am very happy to have this added functionality, if only just to watch the taillight start-up "dance" ;)

No worries at all ask away! I believe I made a thread about my experience let me check…. https://www.tundras.com/threads/2013-non-jbl-no-nav-oem-stereo-to-android-auto-head-unit-harness.96491/

    I
m sure this will just raise more questions:monocle:

More directly I was able to program my existing steering wheel controls (SWC) to several different options in the HU menu.

I dunno yet. I'm waiting on parts in the mail to finish removing the 6" lift kit.

I may get some wheels back on it tomorrow and take it for a spin around the block.

I took it around the neighborhood. Traction control doesn't like making sharp turns on pavement. I guess I'm on the hunt for a junkyard diff now.

Yeah that’s gonna happen since the rear is fully locked now; you don’t run into a problem with the front since one axle gets disconnected in 2wd

Is traction control keeping you from turning or is it just the fact that the rear is locked so it’s difficult?

From what I can tell so far at a slow speed hard turn it's triggering wheel slip and killing power. I hadn't really considered it when i welded the diff, but the magnetic wheel sensors are very accurate and toyota's traction control system is pretty good. It must be smart enough to know given the variables it can read that something's wrong.

I haven't had any issues with the front other than it's been a little harder to get the front actuator to lock in. Sometimes involves some sawing of the steering wheel and forward movement to lock in. Don't try to shift into 4wd after you're stuck lol. I never use 4wd high on pavement here in FL and almost always turn off off the traction control in 4wd anyway so that hasn't been a problem.

Oh well. Seems like it's driveable tho until i can find a replacement diff.

I actually modified mine and attached a magnetic phone mount piece. Better than having a big clunky phone mount.

So I’ve come to realize my “squeaky” serpentine belt was actually my power steering pump running dry. I plan on replacing the belt idler and tensioner and now the pump. I pulled the reservoir and the inside was caked with dried fluid so it looked full. My bad for not actually checking the dipstick. It is now clean and added fluid but the pump is shot. A new one is pricey. Anyone have any luck with used ones or not worth the gamble?

Try pulling the red 50 amp abs fuse and see if your turning issue stops; that completely disables traction control and abs; if it still happens you can try the green fuse next to it but from what I’ve heard that one will kill your speedo

You can try a rebuilt one but new/oem is best

you can try one from a junk yard like LKQ or Jasper; most pull a part yards never get tundras (cause they don’t break down)
