My understanding is that it's more so state taxes on gas. Every state charges a different level of taxes on gas. They recently raised our gas taxes in TN for the first time in a few decades I think.

Is that the 4.3? I had an 89 s10 for 3 years as my first vehicle and that thing barely gave me any problems. Wish I kept it.

2.5 iron duke. Tech iv, so its almost peak tbi.

with 3.73s and posi for god knows why. Through a 700r4 with .66 OD, so if i get blocked and drop below 60, i have to drop to below 50 before its worth spinning again. And the bow wave of 18 wheelers is a 15mph hit, so id better be passing from 80.

I fill up when it flashes at me, usually about $10-$12 of 90. Good for 140 miles and 41 mpg. With lots of high revs too. I wanna see what hyper miling it would achieve, but it's too much fun to twist the throttle.

I used to get that same mileage in my 93 civic. Over 400 miles on a tank.

I get 34 mpg in my GTI

Let's not talk about how much it costs to keep that car running, the truck might be cheaper after that math.

Not horrible, but none too good either. The top shock mount is rotted away, and that took out my rear brakes. I can't see Toyota saying now, they could spray this with something and it will all be better. Not IMG_7468.jpg IMG_7468.jpg IMG_7467.jpg IMG_7470.jpg IMG_7475[1].jpg

I looked at buying a Corona when I got my first job, but decided that it would never be right, and it was just a young man's dream. (This car was a royal POS. I mean worse than cleaton quality)

That was actually my little brother's saying for the Title.

I was showing him how to change engine oil, and Transmission fluid. He asked me if I liked working on the corolla virus. It stuck. :rofl:My thread title was initially just a "build."

We've had a Yaris for about Ten years, and that little car has been awesome. Get where you are going without any thoughts of gas, 37 MPG. Was like 13k new in 2009, all it has ever gotten is fluids, filters and pads. I cleaned the TB, MAF, and gave it plugs last year. It's a pleasure to own a small reliable little car too.
    Screenshot_20210616-050426.jpg
Saw this on the Tundra Facepage today. I've read lots of reports from you guys about happiness post coil replacement, but never a big milage bump like this guys claims. What do you make of it? Could the coils have been doing that poorly without throwing some kind of code?

I didn’t see a bump up in MPG after doing all 8 Denso Coils. Half of them were cracked. One was replaced about 5 years ago after sending the truck into limp mode with the CEL simultaneous.

It is possible that the older worn coils will make the engine work harder (via electrical system) and may not throw codes.

In my experience, if your ignition coils are causing a 30% drop in fuel economy, it's because [at least] one is fucking dead and you're misfiring.
It always blows me away how people will drive with a blinking check engine light like it's just NBD.
In what world is a blinking warning light not an indicator of something real bad?

washed my bugs off today. Whats up with newer black paints that attracts gnats? The turdra, moms qx80, grandmas lexus, bugs come from miles to hover near freshly washed new black. Never did that to any of my other black vehicles.

That’s what I thought too, seems like something else must have been done to the truck at the time of coil replacement.

    13 lb.ft.?!? Barely finger tight.

they’re all loose and the straps are white. Doing finger tight, then crushing the washers. If the straps are white next year, or whenever, ill know i need more fuel for the nitrous.

Found my first cracked coil. Still getting low 17s mpgs, but how hard is it to compensate for msd coils for less than $400?

I don’t know about msd, but I just run the 1A coil packs for $150 a complete set. I’ve got a spare set as well in case these crap out early.

So with the EPA paperwork I read. I do believe I’ll be purchasing headers very soon. Because it looks like they’re trying to basically enact CARB on a federal level

Drove up the mountain today so wolfpup could cool off in the snow and I wanted to see if one of my fav lakes has thawed yet.
It's "offroad" but could be done in 2WD, just need good clearance in several spots. Blessed to have this nearby. Usually see Moose, Elk, and Ptarmigan up here but only Marmots today.
    I go up...
