Same, I am taking to him to see if he can make one that’s 15+ inches wide.

I am working on making a bracket and adding some flood lights and a chase light on the camper. Should work with the window open and closed

Example - one flood light on each side plus a amber chase in the middle.

A piece of 1/8" steel for $400. I'm in the wrong business.

Got the uniballs done today. I also cleaned up my CV boots a bit. Found a couple tiny cracks so it looks like that job is happening again this year. Almost 2 years on cv boots isn't terrible I suppose. My kid smacked his head against the door edge of the tundra while he was "helping me" had to go to the clinic because mom was worried since his head was bleeding. I thought it looked fine, but she's probably never cut her head before. I also did some more sound deadening, but didn't get the steering shaft seal because little man took that header on the door. It was still a successful day.

I built a 4.7 stroker instead of doing an ls swap... I should have just done the ls swap. Now I'm trying to decide if I double down and go forced induction or sell the heep and get something else. This is after I tear the engine back out and figure out what decided to go bad in the first 500 miles and make my oil look like lowrider paint of course. When in doubt... Do the bigger engine. Lesson learned. Now I still have a small engine that's broken. Best case scenario I fix it and... Still have less power than a stock 5.3 with a cam.

    Yes your pics suck.

Not sure about the rotation question, but maybe you need to readjust your pics in/on your phone before uploading. When you turn the phone when taking a pic, sometimes it will save sideways. You can readjust on your phone by rotating the pic there and then upload.

Per light pics: Take a wall pic. The light shining on wall tells more than when you are focused on the incoming glare pics. We need to see the light up on a wall or garage instead of the light assy glaring.

Plus it isn't even painted. Thats cheaper than stolen cats but pretty damn expensive. ORS was selling these for $200 powder coated before they went under. Only bad thing was they didn't make a hole for trans fluid draining.

Getting some work done today. Decided to have all my new parts installed. Turns out the cam bolts are seized too, so more excitement. Center bearing, lower lc, stainless brake lines, all new brakes.
Good thing I love this truck.

Overhead is a real thing, but it's a cnc plasma cut part with two bends that are relieved so they are easier to bend without a heavy press brake. That tells me these are being made with what I have at my families shop. Not exactly the overhead of a fiber laser and cnc brake press with $20,000 in software to drive it. Just on principal it makes me want to make one.

The old ORS one I have doesn't have relief cuts. Probably no different for the user but I noticed that right away.

In no way bashing on first gen, I know they're valuable to our community and I'm always happy to see somebody making products for us. To me the price is pretty high, about 2x the cost of competitors. Maybe he's getting hit with outsourcing overhead for low volume.

You might be onto something there. I wasn't really bashing either. I'm just having a hard time seeing the $400 worth of time/labor/material. Maybe if it was a one off and you had to design it from scratch for a single shot. I'd still feel bad making someone pay that much for a single part like that though. Different economies and all that.

    RE: the rotating photos.
I often have to save photos to the desktop before uploading them. That always keeps them from rotating.

But I use an actual computer more often than not when I'm here.

They always are. SPC makes good replacements. You can go aftermarket with the lower control arms or replace the bushings.

    Yo!
I just read that linked PDF and I'm wondering if the installation of that AIP workaround circuit would allow me to remove the entire AIP system?
I'm not quite ready yet, but I'm sure the intake manifold will come off at some point and I hate systems that are expensive AND guaranteed to fail. Plus they make headers more expensive and complicated to install.

Very nice! The miles we're getting out of these trucks is unmatched in the industry. Makes it hard to give it up.

I know if you go for a no cut solution like this
    https://rutechsolutions.com/products/aip47?variant=38455630340
you leave everything and just insert the block off plates to keep the ecu happy but I'm sure you could remove the switching valves. and with a custom block off plate for the main valve, a bunch of resistors and some heat shrink can keep things happy.

I've never understood disabling systems and then leaving them in.
Why not sell the functional parts to someone who wants them whilst opening up more space and removing clutter?

@chrisb Besides the open gaps in the exhaust and manifold for the valves and pump. The ecu may not like seeing no current or data coming from those things. but I'm sure it's possible. but its never going to pass smog again and if its completely removed it can be illegal to sell it in most states.

Gotta be careful painting the rest of the country with that CA paint brush.
I live in the [mostly] free state of Indiana. The Tundra is the first emissions-compliant vehicle I've owned since 2013...which makes it the second one I've ever owned. Never had any trouble driving, plating, registering, or selling cars. But I don't buy/sell from/to states like PA or CA with stricter inspections. YMMV

It's not just my CA brush. Texas has a law about it as mentioned on the Rutech page. so i painted the rest of the country with a Texas brush. I know California is it's own special snowflake.

Californians have been ruining TX with the California brainwashing for a while now. CO is the worst. I feel sorry for the natives of that state. They are good salt of the earth people who can't save the rainwater off their roofs.

Sadly, I feel the same. I think this is the scariest thing I’ve ever done.

Well. I’ve done other really scary things, but all at once, not one fastener at a time. It was like walking the plank....

That would be now, if I had cage-building skills.

But alas, this is just to replace the most over-engineered cup-holder ever with an in-dash ham radio base. I hope. :fingerscrossed:

Any recommendations for new serpentine belt and Tensioner Pulley. I have a squeak during cold starts. I believe the bearing is bad on the tensioner pulley because I can hear it dancing around while I was under the truck.

should I go oem or aftermarket?
