When it was on the truck and stuck i whacked it. I didnt whack it hard enough. A few more whackings and i could have freed it and been living dangerously, like a champ.

Gonna put it back together, put a few drops of fluid in the reservoir, and grease the exposed shaft. Add it to the hoard.

Maybe take a clean rag (or cut part of one off), some polishing compound and use it on the inside of the bore?

If there is a rougher spot/area that caused it to stick.

I used a rougher type heavy cotton rag with Acetone and cleaned my Rear Cylinders. Worked well.

I meant if there was actual problems with the walls of the bore, like pitting or corrosion/oxidization that would cause the seal/plunger to stick.

But cleaning it like that at minimum would be good, since it's apart.

Yeah. I followed that thought you put out. I think I’ll just buy a new MC when it comes time based on emptylords recco from the pitting due to age. I bought one of those Cylinder Honers and never used it on the Drum Cylinders. Looked too aggressive so I switched to Acetone. No pits, but did have some wall film build up that was removed.

To me, I feel the wall build up that I had, was probably just the lube they/I used on the seals. It felt the same as the schtuff I put on when I assembled them. Not sure what your theory is, on what that buildup was; I’ve closed the case on that X-file

I’ll trust your Expertly Trained Plumbing Finger over my well protected one.

Seriously, seemed maybe like some cooked Brake Fluid build up. It dissolved pretty easily. I think I used Denatured Alcohol, as well, based on some reading about the Glycol Nature of Brake Fluid. Switched over to Acetone and she was smooovvv like new after. No need for honing as you could see the OEM Hatchings again.

Very well could have been some half baked brake fluid buildup; this was my first time bleeding, let alone opening up a wheel cylinder, so my disgusting plumber claws(I looked up synonyms for finger, best I could do) are in virgin territory.
Pops was more of a wood worker than a gear head, but still showed me the ropes of minor car repair

I was in new territory myself with Bleeding on the Rear Cylinders Rebuild. Only made SWAG on the build up that was ever so slight. Many times I’m glad I took pics for review, because in the heat of the moment I’m focusing on the next move instead of analysis.

Mostly, I’m glad to have done them due to some leaks beginnings around the plungers (from pics). I did come prepared to the fight with a Honer, but glad to not use it as it would be too aggressive I think.

I liked the power and space of my 4x4 titan. I didn't love the 13.5mpg that it got basically everywhere. I think I hit 15 once. I think that was literally coming down out off a mountain valley with ethanol free gas. Not that my tundra gets much better the way I've been driving it.

That looks very nice. I had to borrow my battery in to get the wife's car over to the zone to check the alternator. Thankfully just her battery was toast. Anyway in the process I was reminded how janky my rusty hold down is. It doesn't even really fit the battery.

Thanks. Coupe sent this one to me for free as a test pilot before opening sales. It was just Raw Aluminum with no coating or red paint which both were added by me. Shprayed using some left over Enamel Clear and Toyota Red.

Why did you refer to the short headers as “Dream Killers”? Loud or just didn’t give the performance you were hoping?

Today I was able to align my steering wheel with the tires. Then a strange noise starting from the front passenger side tire. Like when you have a rock stuck in the threads but it’s not a rock.
Besides the steering work I have changed the lower ball joints recently... not sure what could be causing this sound tho. Seems mechanical. Any guesses?

The Difficulty Factor. 11 out of 10.

French Toasty nicknamed it that. If you have any weakness, it will be exploited on that job. Every step is another twist and turn of uncertainty.

How do you like the headers? Any extra power? Louder?

Jack up the front and see if its either cv or the diff. Seems about wheel speed? Does it stop if you drive in a circle in either direction?

Good idea. Yes it’s wheel speed. Strange part is it starts making noise after driving a few blocks. Quite when first starting to drive. Checked all the bolts, everything tight

The safety nannies with pitch a bitch, but jack all 4 wheels off the ground and put it solid on jackstands and put it in 4hi. It might not make the noise unloaded, but you’ll be able to see (hear) where its coming from. Thats how i determined both front brakes were dragging equally, because as they warmed up, everything stopped at once instead of one of the fronts spinning double speed.

i wouldnt crawl under it while it was spinning because i was sober, but would have after a 6 pack.

Lol, I’d need a couple more jacks to do that. Did check with just the front jacked up and no sound...

I like them now that they are done.

Took 3 days total. They do add some extra chirp on the accelerator with 285/75/16. I’m guessing this is the touted extra ‘Torque’ added due to breathing better and the FireCone/Collector. Still only have driven about a quarter tank on back roads and a little Highway. Shifts feel slightly changed, but still not enough time behind the wheel for full feedback.

Per sound: Note is a little different. Not louder, but different. I have OEM Exhaust from Headers back to the tail pipe. I like the quiet.

Got my rear brakes done. Seal is still leaking but I'm only driving it a 1/2 mile to the mechanic to get inspected. IDGAF $600 will buy a lot of gear oil and brake shoes. Could have used @bmf4069 dishwasher for cleaning up the drum. Instead 3 cans of brake cleaner and a bath in Dawn had to do.

Also found out the self adjuster on that side is shit, the adjuster itself is fine but the spring piece is all mangled. Then proceeded to snap the bolt holding the parking brake pivot off trying to loosen it up so a new bolt is in order.:frusty:

Also finally bolted the rear O2 sensor back in, it's been held on with 12 gauge copper for the last 4 months

Yup also realized I should start looking for a bed. 90% of it is good but I noticed one of the mounting points is rotted through. Can't see it from the top since the rhino liner is still intact.
