My ignition keyway got packed with lint and dust to the point where the wafers in the keyway would bind and not operate correctly. I was almost stranded last night because of it.

My retired locksmith neighbor helped me clean and rebuild my key cylinder with new wafers. My main key was worn too, so I'm running my oem backup set until my new oem blank comes in later this week.

The new ignition is still keyed to my original key and it operates real smoov now

Update on the 14wa calipers too:

They don't feel immediately different than the stock ones, but when I have to really step on the pedal, I feel like I could lock up the front wheels and throw myself through the windshield. The braking improvement is especially noticeable when I have to step on them at highway speeds.

The Akebono pads and oem gx460 anti squeal shims make the braking incredibly quiet as well.

Yo! your truck is super clean! Those wheels are also pretty unique.

What rail system do you have on your camper shell?

Dead stock with oem 16" starfish wheels. We'll see how long that lasts. :) Topper of unknown origin.

I may have a Daytona jack in my future.

The US General tool boxes are good products too. I'm an amateur and amateur priced tool boxes that work darn well suit my needs.

No judgement from me. I bought a large Husky box from Home Depot years ago on Black Friday. It works great! However, I had to add a second box a few years later. No fault of the first one, just keep collecting tools.. I may have a problem

What kind is your old one? If you can find someone in town that fixes big tools, they can fix it. My friend has a business doing that and took my jack apart and replaced the seals. I have an mvp 3 ton from wally world I got back in 02. Works like a champ now. I'd take a look at getting new fluid in yours first.

Or just PHM it and take it apart. Find a seal kit and rebuild it yourself.

I had the machining done locally. People in this area are especially proud of their work. I'd definitely have to recommend going through Geoffrey Beers who will have machining done for you. He will cost about 1/3 of what I paid locally but you'll have to wait a few months I think.

Dampened a small rattle from my dome light with some butyl.

Had a failure this week. Perhaps some of you electrical gurus can help me with my compass/temp gauge. The light went out this week so I took it apart to look for a bulb. Looks to me like the illumination is in the lcd itself. I can’t see any obvious problems with the soldered connections but I fear the issue is that spot on the corner of the lcd itself. Can anyone confirm? Thanks!

thanks! I believe it’s the standard rail system that comes on these leer canopy’s with Yakima round bars. Wish they had a lower profile to them Tho.

Nothing wrong with that at all. I like some of their boxes and might pick one up. To be really honest I have a lot of sockets and such from Harbor, they all work fine. Some boxed end and open ended wrenches I can tell are slightly off but they work too. I'm too poor to be a tool snob and something I say often is the tool doesn't get the job done without me.

Added some hidden mass in an effort to get this truck as quiet as possible on the highway. Or as my wife calls it, “wasting money.”

Did you take any noise level readings before? I have considered doing this on my last 3 vehicles. This truck may be the one that gets it.

Around 72-73db at 70mph and 59db at 35 mph before sound treatment. Haven’t driven it yet since adding the noico, but the doors certainly seem more solid. I’ll get a readings sometime soon and report back. For reference my wife’s GX460 is 69db at 80mph.

I'll chime in as I cld'd and mlv'd my whole interior. A LOT of work. Putting down dynamat, hush mat, similar is really about stopping vibrations from the speakers and improves mid bass noticeably. Road noise is not really diminished much at all from this, though many people will swear otherwise.

Blocking external noise is really about putting down MLV (mass loaded vinyl) which not many people do as it is not easy to work with and adds a lot of weight to the process, but I have looked at a bunch of noise level readings and a few notes:
    1. The attenuation in sound is very vehicle dependent. My guess is that our trucks do not respond too well to noise blocking treatment.
    2. You have to really completely enclose the interior as any small opening negates the effect. A good analogy: your neighbor is using the lawnmower and you have your window open: it is loud. You close the window and it is much quieter. But just open the window a little bit and it is pretty darn loud still.
    3. I did it, it was a ton of work, and I am glad I did it.
    4. check out this site for basically the bible: https://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/

Great info, thanks. Hopefully this work won’t all be for naught, but at least maybe I’ll have more midbass.

I went through that site about 5 years ago. My 06 taco was terribly loud. I probably have forgotten most of it. Your analogy makes a ton of since.

The majority of my non adventure driving involves me listening to my brain, this may not be a good time and money investment in my case. When I do turn something on it is usually a podcast. I am definitely interested in hearing more feedback on this with the stereo off.

@PGP03 That looks nice. Any issues getting to the box? That would be my hesitation; trying to balance on the tire while loading/unloading and not being able to fully reach. But, those things are worth it for loading stuff you don't need frequent access to.
I'm more interested in any details you have on your fog lights. What kind? How did you mount them with the bezels? Any issues aiming them?

Project Bomba de Gasolinas is a success!

Old Pump was in Spec, but the Gaskets were gnar gnar around the Pump Housing Flange and the Evap thingy. Cleaned up the metal with a file on the tank. FIPG’d the New Rubber Gasket on both sides and the Old Evap Gasket in place (she was locked on and didn’t want to Mangle).

Truck revs in neutral a little different in that it holds the rev a little longer when letting off the pedal. When driving, there is a slightly better response.

Inside of tank looked nice and shiny. Glad I did this job to stop that rust and seal up the gaskets a little better. Took about 4.5 hours total. Mz PHM only helped to drop/lift the tank via the New Jack Pump (sweet tool) while I balanced the unit with about what looked to be 2 Gallons inside. She started right up and then drove to fill up with 24 Gallons.
