they’re ok. My old ones had a lot of oxidation and these weren’t expensive. If I did it over again I’d probably stick to the clear oem look.

I wish there was an easy way to do a kdss sway bar system on our trucks. I'd have a front and rear sway bar if that were the case. I didn't even know this stuff existed until we started looking at lexus gx460s for the wife.

For anyone that cares, the oxidation can be cleaned up with some fine wet/dry sanding. Follow up with Alcohol wipe cleaning and spray with Acrylic Clear Coat from big box. Check my build page for results pictures.

Oh I've been thinking about it. It's not a terribly complex system without the electronic doodads. Pretty much a cylinder on the front and rear and bypass lines to allow fluid to move between them. I don't know if there needs to be a reservoir besides what's needed to bleed the lines though. I guess there should be a small one. Now to find some appropriate cylinders...

I wonder if hydraulic bump stops could be tapped for fluid bypass? They can be had with rod ends for easy mounting if I recall.
Then again a small enough air shock would do the same thing without the complexity of the bypass lines. Then you'd just release the pressure to unlock the sway bars and pump it up to lock them.

We test drove a LC with that setup. I agree that is something I will look for when the 4Runner gets replaced. It is great technology.

The gx460 we are hoping to pick up tomorrow has kdss. I'll be honest and I thought the Lexus SUVs were just pretty grocery getters. Once ai engaged the center diff "lock" and tried to turn in a parking lot... Changed my mind. That thing is going to climb better than my truck.

It definitely will. I am super surprised Lexus has not been pushing the "overlanding" thing with that vehicle more. The LX and GX are at the top of the offroad game if you do some bumber trimming. You can fit 35s on a LX with the stock suspension.

The lx570 is a sweet ride. I was tempted but the gas mileage is even worse than the so/so gx460. Still the gx with some trimming and sliders should make a great vehicle. Just have to talk the wife into it. Hopefully I can ease her in with the wheels and sliders and maybe find some spare bumpers to trim and build under.

It's a 2012. Needs a little love, but seems solid. I did a deposit the other day and we are planning a pick-up tomorrow or Saturday if all goes to plan. We'll see. I need a few things from the dealer still and they don't have enough of my money for me to not walk away. I think it should all work out though.
They do look so nice though.

Brake hoses showed up last night, so thats todays truck project. Rear went in great. Since the load valve is the highest point in the system at the back should i gravity bleed from there before opening the fronts? How would one bleed the line between the load valve and front?

It has a bleeder on it. So however you're bleeding the rest of them should work fine.

    I think the order is

    back passenger
    back driver
    lpsv
    front passenger
    front driver.
