Yesterday I pulled back the timing cover. Belt still looks great. Drove it for the first time in a while today.

Getting ready to do my timing belt and water pump, my truck (06 DC) only has 75,000 miles on it, but I don't have any records of it ever being replaced. I pulled back the cover and the belt looks in great shape, but it's probably better not to risk it?

Is there any way I can ensure I get genuine parts and not knockoffs? I've heard of people having issues with counterfeit belts/pumps. I was just planning to get the Aisin kit from Amazon.

Anything that I'll need that's not part of that kit or special tools needed?

Anything else I "might as well" replace while I'm in there?

I wouldn't risk it right now. I think someone recently recommended Rock Auto as being safer than Amazon. I think their kit might be around the same price too.

I like the fact your sway bar is above the diff. I have the hellwig and unless mine is installed incorrectly... it goes below the diff. Basically losing a couple of inches of clearance

The Hellwig rear bar is designed to mount under the diff as you have it so it's likely installed properly. I could see the lower position being an issue in certain situations, I guess if you know you'll be needing maximum clearance you can pull it before the ride. I mainly chose the Addco due to the price.

Is that protect from uv also? Have a link? Mine show a tiny tint and I don't want them getting worse. It's actually hard to tell if it's always been the same or if they've changed shades because it literally looks like a very light tint.

How do you do the fog light mod? I’ve looked it up and can’t seem to find any helpful information.

The info I used for my mod is different for your truck. For my 2002 with no DRL I followed these instructions from @Rex Kramer https://www.tundras.com/threads/2002-sr5-4wd.70271/#post-1815334

This should help you, and others with the fog light switch on the stalk instead of the dash. https://www.tundras.com/threads/1st-gen-fog-light-mod.56488/

Let us know how it goes.

Not far from my house. Close to Palomar, kind of on the way to Anza Borrego/ OW.

I hope you have fun out there this weekend! Stay cool out there. The sand has been super soft out there this year, so be prepared for that.

I'll be going to Ocotillo Wells this weekend to help my dad pick up his motor home from storage. If he lets me, I'm going to take him to Joshua Tree beforehand so he can experience what both my truck and JT are like.

As you get into this and along with the link @Lil Steve posted and others that you follow, there is less/more difficulity according to IF you have DRL or not and IF you have Fogs or not. While electrical wiring drawings(EWD) give some the heeby jeebys, one would be well served if they download there year EWD. One can then see what number connector they are dealing with, location of connector and wire color they should be fooling with. One does NOT want to fool with anyvECU wires wrongly.

    EWD’s courtesy of @RainMan_PNW...

Maybe I'll try to find ya' after I drop my Dad off, then go camp somewhere for the night. I hate going on day trips - I will use any excuse I can find to camp in the truck.

Black looks the best when it's clean but sweet jesus it looks bad when it gets like that. Every time you touch it when there is a layer of dirt, it scratches it.

Meanwhile, I'm staring at my truck with a layer of pollen and it's hurts me.

Yeah, when this truck was my daily I cared much more about how it looked. Since my truck doesn't really leave the garage unless I'm going wheeling nowadays, it's pretty much a lost cause investing any time into cleaning the outside other than rinsing it off. The place that waxed and detailed it last time did a very good job so I might take it back there. They shampooed my bedrug too which was totally unexpected.

This doesn't look too bad, does it?

I got a cold start video, and moved it back up onto the driveway. Whats the go-to for brake hoses? Are stock ‘02 trd hoses going to limit an attempt at a 1-2” lift? I dont mind getting braided hoses, but i dont want red.

also, gonna add a question mark about residual valves? Is that what is under the plugs on the mc? Wanna know as much as possible before draining, cause that will have to be done extra carefully. Not on city water.

Hey Whatsup guys, I’m new to the forum today. Thought I would make an account since I keep finding myself back here. Anyways I just bought my tundra less than 30 days ago. I threw a $30 dollar 2inch leveling kit on it right away (same exact quality as the $80 dollar ones from supreme suspension), put in new upper ball joints, and popped a couple dents out. Thinking about throwing on bilsteins instead of the leveling kit but I’ll wait until I got some extra cash in the bank.

    114k miles
Just bought some TRD decals that I’ll probably show off to you guys tomorrow
