What have you done to your 1st gen tundra today??
I put her up for sale Then I realized the dealership that sold it to me 3 years ago magically subtracted 70,000 miles from the odometer Then I realized that the value of the truck only decreased by 400ish$ I'm really gonna miss my truck and asking y'all for help all the time. I'm selling her in San Antonio Texas, her actual mileage is 217,000, she's blue, gotta little lift and a fuck ton of brand-new OEM replaced parts if interested. Also If anyone has ever sued a dealership (or possibly the company that sold it to them at auction) or has advice... Let me know if it's worth making a fuss over.

Last time my brake line broke on the road conveniently in front of an auto parts store I replaced the hot model with my 7 year old daughter, she surprisingly pumped those brakes like a champ.

Austrailian accent- On today's episode of the mangler, follow along as we bench bleed this master cylinder without a vice.

    0225211713.jpg

It actually wasn't too difficult. I finished bleeding all 4 wheels in the dark but I don't think I have all the air out yet. Will test drive later and find out.

Coincidentally, I replaced mine yesterday also. I bench bled the new master, then bled it again after I installed it... then bled all the wheels and load sensor (in the correct order). I used the PHM technique (minus hot model unfortunately) and everything bled well, I didn't see any air after several cycles on each. Brakes aren't 100% however. When drive testing - it takes one spongy long push (which will actually stop the truck), release pedal, then it's firm. Still chasing the brake demon on this one. My problems started when I reassembled the rear axle after sitting with an open brake line for a couple of weeks. Open to suggestion.

Do you mean you used the brake pedal to bleed the master the 2nd time? I saw someone do that on Youtube. Smart call.

Same here. I'm positive I still have air in the system. I'm not screwing with it anymore though. Bleeding brakes has been my least favorite thing that I have done to this truck. I hate it. I'm taking it to Budget Brakes and having them pressure bleed the system and adjust the rear drums. It's worth the $70 to not screw with it anymore.

a reverse bleeder ive found works the absolute best.. one that forces fluid through the bleeder screw and then you remove fluid from the master as it gets higher.

90% chance theres still air in your LSPV... those things love to hide air pockets.

Should the LSPV be bled while the truck is on the ground? I've done all my bleeding while the truck is up on the lift.

Interesting. I'm fairly certain I got the air out of the master but anything is possible. I kept plunging it for a while with no more bubbles coming out. Did you use the little hoses? My master came with these 2 solid plugs that screw into the ports and the instructions said you can bleed it either way. I tried that one first but it didn't seem to be doing anything.

It could be a combination of both. If your rear drums aren't dialed in it will definitely impact pedal feel and travel. I wouldn't be surprised if you still have air in the system though. As others said recently, these trucks are a bitch to bleed for some reason.

Shouldn’t matter since you are using pressure to bleed it. Have you tried bleeding it with the truck running?

Another thing is check drum shoe adjustment, and take it for a spin and get the ABS (if you have it) to actuate a few times. This can force any possible air pockets out of the abs pump module

Will it force the air pockets into the wheel cylinders, thus making it easier to bleed the air out?

It wasn't running the last time I bled it. I'm going to try adjusting the drums, then bleeding the wheels and LSPV. Before I do that, I'll take er for a spin and engage the ABS a few times. I'll try bleeding it with the truck running. Thank you again.

Mine had Jank for dayzzz in there until the third bleed. In other words, I would bleed clear and then after a week or two of driving it would Shoot Jank on the next Bleed. Bad Mojo up in there. Might still be some, but my brakes are working nicely so not going to force any issues.

My brakes hadn’t been bled for maybe 4-5 years prior?

I’m remembering this time when my truck was about 2 years old and the brakes started feeling funny (brake pedal very mushy). I called Stealer and reported the problem. They said bring it in and I did as I was just around the corner. Barely made it into the Parking Lot with ZERO pedal as I had used the last pump a few hundred yards before. Ended up stopping with the Parking Brake at the Garage Door. Told the guy to be careful before he took it in.

It was still under warranty so they did something that I can’t remember or get records on anymore due to it being a long time before digital keeping.

Sounds good. Thank you. I did ask the Stealer two years ago for a list and they said they were ‘erased’. Same Stealer I bought the truck from did all the service for the first 6-7 years from 2002-2009. After that, the only time they touched it again was during the Rear Axle Debacle last year.

From 2009-2018 it was Friendly High Dolla Corner Shop or Goofy Garage.

I’ll consult with my Secret Council Committee and get back with you. Thank you.

My basic truck doesn't have the ABS Setup.

I have an inch, or 1.5 inches of pedal travel before it gets firm. It feels amazing after my 1Aauto bleed that I posted a while back.

This was after a total drain when I installed the Wheelers stainless steel lines.

I remember the first time I tried to bleed, and didn't know what I was doing. I posted about it. I've since changed to the 1aauto method which works well for single man operation.
