Appreciate you guys not calling @bmf4069 on me with my FG Sequoia up in here. :spy:

Cleaned some dirt off my frame today, happy with what I found. I was under the assumption I shared the same frame as a FGT, but mine is fully boxed. No problematic frame brace @FirstGenVol

    Pass side, trans crossmember.

Sequoia are always welcome here. Never knew they have a boxed frame.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

Well after further evaluation, it’s leaking from the top seal. It was a very small seep early on but now its more than that. Haven’t lost much fluid but it’s time to do something.

Rack is 4 years old. This is the only leak so I’m hoping I can just replace the top seal and run it for more miles....It is a remanned unit a buddy and I put in along with new LBJs and new bushings all around...That was a long day lol

Has anyone messed with replacing the top seal?

The perfect scenario would be replacing the top seal while the rack is still on... :monocle:

But if no avail I’ll just resolve the rack and call it good.

I would go OEM for $700 but a lifetime warranty unit from Napa is tempting. If I have to replace it every 4 years so be it. At least the part would be free.... anyone running a unit from NAPA?
    :spending:

I threw my cheapo flash relay in last night. No more hyper flashing. Job done.

I inspected my steering shaft seal. It's busted. No missing rubber pieces just torn. Gonna caulk it and call it good enough.

I wish the 2006 was that cheap. :(

Good news, found some people on the FB Group that have changed the top seal while the racks still in there. So just ordered the seal kit! Woo

Caulk is setting up nicely on the steering shaft seal. I also threw in LED turn signals in the tail lights. I already had installed LED reverse and brake bulbs.

Just modernizing ye olden Tundra a little bit at a time. Lol

Now back to it! I only completed one side due to having to run out for that call. But I took my time and got the passenger side axle seal damn near perfecto! I used some joe Gibbs Ass lube on the shaft seal and shaft itself. Then I started to clean the dust seal? On the knuckle, I don’t think I should be able to see the abs gears?

@empty_lord should I just replace that dust cover when I do my brakes, or should I be worried about the bearing?

tomorrow I will finish the driver side.

They’re not hard to replace. But chances are it’s also not in dire need of replacement

Love to see more people building out their campers. Are you going to carpet the bed box? I used adhesive velcro on my adhesive light strips, then I cut small strips of velcro and placed them every few inches where there weren't LEDs. It's not the cleanest looking but this was the best way to get the lights to stick. It has worked extremely well.

I used P-Clamps for my light's. I push the button and they come on. I will carpet the bed box. And add a foam pad soon. Ill be adding usb charging, volt meter soon, also a small solar panel on the roof of the camper to keep a second battery charged later on down the road.

Definitely look forward to seeing how that turns out. Those P-Clamps are definitely cleaner! I'd have to poke holes in my shell for anything else other than velcro. I use a 100W folding panel for charging when I'm parked and move it around as needed for max sun, but a fixed one would definitely be convenient. IMO, our alternators provide more steady juice than a solar panel would while the truck is running/ moving.

The only reason I have the holes poked through my shell is the roof rack.

Just had my driver side headlight low beam burn out...stupid. Did I read we could put better headlights in that just needed a tab modified? Wondering if that was for something different than a 1st gen.

Weird, I don’t think my bulbs look like that though.
I have 9003 or H4 bulbs that just come straight out the back and don’t 90degree angle

Towed the heaviest load since the new gears. About 3500lbs, but they were round bales so the wind resistance was more than a normal trailer load.

It towed great until I got above 65. Then I couldn’t keep it in OD. The problem is, at 70MPH, with overdrive off, my engine is screaming at 3400-3500RPMs.

Any of you mechanic wizards, will sustained driving at that RPM cause any harm? My coolant temp stayed right around 195, and my oil pressure didn’t drop at all.

    The Dirty T ( ^_^)_且

The engine will be fine, 3500 rpm all day long. What won't be is the transmission if you tow heavy in OD. I believe even the owners manual states to turn off the OD when towing.

So far I've taken after @bmf4069 on this job.

Upper ball point on passengers side still had plenty of grease. My press is too small... will be running out to town soon.

    Snapped sway link.

Brake lines are seized. There goes removal of the whole spindle for press action.
