So I have a slight squat in the rear thanks to my tool box and more so my rear bumper. It didn't help when I cranked up my front preload another half inch or so.

So my question to you guys is this... Should I go the cost effective route and bandaid that bitch by exploring my options from a 1 inch block and/or axle shims to figuring out how to expand my progressive AAL to 4 leafs?

    OR

Should I open the can of worms on a new set of leaf packs for 2 or 2.5 inch lift, knowing it's just going to inevitably lead to me wanting to do shock relocate and shackle flip and u-bolt flip? Not to mention the co$$$t

So I came across this company that makes bedside racks in my online meanderings this morning, and they don’t make a kit for our trucks, so I think I’m going to try fab up my own with expanded metal.

@TRDGen for relocation, brake line, u bolts flip kit and leaf packs (not counting shocks) you'll be in the ballpark of $1500 for parts alone. I wouldn't do a shackle flip on these trucks, they apparently can damage leaf packs on these trucks. There is a hanger and shackle upgrade, add $470 for that.

If you just want to correct the height I would probably find a heavy duty 3 pack and keep the overload leaf in.

I already have the HD 3 pack and tossed the overload years ago for better flex. I shou've kept and cut em down to .5" lift blocks lol

Resurrecting this old post because Amarillo was legit my Knoxville alternate when considering my move out of Iowa.

    Decided to annoy @FirstGenVol instead.

Crap, wish I saw this BEFORE I threw the middle one in lol.
Got the deets on the parts I’ll be needing?

think what I will do is order a high angle boot, rebuild the oem axle, install in driver side with ecgs bushing and then rebuild that side for when the passenger side goes out and just return the axle I recently bought.

I'm not familiar with this one. How difficult was the install and what all does it do? It's a remote start and an alarm?

Really depends on funds. You know you really want option 2 and you'll end up there eventually :)

1" block is cheap and easy, but I wonder if that would cause leafs to break since you don't have the overload.

Option 3, buy a used leaf pack from basically brand new tacoma for dirt cheap and use a leaf and the overload from the tacoma pack. I see them in Denver for under $100 with less than 5,000 miles on them

I'm not too worried about the leafs over arching without the overload since I have superbumps and the AAL. Had I kept the overload of likely be perfectly level now but I would be limiting my rear up travel too much

My concern with a block is I've seen videos of them slipping out on the trail.

So yeah I'll probably end up saving for new springs

Gave the battery hold down a nice little upgrade, courtesy of @Coupe

Fits wonderfully, and feels much more solid than the old one.

I got it on a black Friday deal that came with free harnesses and installation from best buy. Took them right at 2hrs. It's just an alarm/remote start for the most part. It's 2way so you know when it receives a command which is really nice. You can use Drone Mobile to control it via your phone which includes gps tracking and unlimited range apparently but it's an add-on from what I gather.

Who knows what that thing has probed!!!!? The best way to calibrate those(I know your a man of proper tools and double checking your measurements) is stick it in a cup of crushed ice; “nugget/flake”(if your in the industry) and water, while stirring the mixture, calibrate at 32-33 by holding firmly on the probe and then twist the round dial to make it match.

that temp is also interesting; at work our target temp for heating water is 95 I think. There is always run over, where it gets a little hotter but never 140+.
    Just an observation

I've never had a remote start. When you get in you insert the key and turn it to on I assume?

correct, but only to the "on" position. otherwise bad things happen. if you try to put it in gear without the key in the ignition it shuts itself off.

That’s how most aftermarket systems work. But if you were “fortunate” enough to get one from the factory........ the car shuts off when you open the door(as a anti theft system) then you get in, and put the key in and start like normal. Soooo many people complain about that “feature”
Our viper, you can push the same “start button” while it’s running, take the keys out, get out, lock it, go into the gas station and do your unmentionables, come back to a running car, unlock it, stick the key in and drive away.

Yeah I specifically got it for the heat in the summer, which is 10 months of the year here; mainly for the kids sake.

My aftermarket e-start keeps running when I hop in. Kill is applied to the brake pedal - if I apply the brake before turning the key to on, the truck will shut off. Otherwise it has a 15min auto-off if I start it and forget about it by mistake.

...I'm also ashamed to admit that I owned my truck for over a year w/o knowing it had e-start. The previous owner never mentioned it, and it wasn't until I was trying to get some wires through the firewall that I noticed the computer/brain tucked away neatly by the hood latch :bananadead:. Had to track down a new fob to get it operational.
