Discovered the Wheeler’s brake line was leaking in the rear. So I took it apart and cleaned it all up. Gave myself a reason to bleed my brakes. Again. Since I just did it.

I know it causes the dead to rise by not using a fresh bottle of brake fluid...but would I be terrible for using up the rest of my Bosch that’s been open at most a week in the garage? Hasn’t exactly been humid in there.

I still consider a week old bottle of brake fluid relatively fresh. I've used older fluid with no concerns although a kitten may or may not have died for my sins.

I installed the tonneau cover I bought during the cyber week sales. Had to trim the bed liner a bit.

That's a lot of work for 1 day!

Do you have any pictures of the mounted switches? I'm trying to figure out where I want to mount switch when I eventually do ditch lights.

I'm excited to see your build thread.

I'm planning on using my overhead sunglasses compartment for switches, but you have more options than my AC with the bench. No center console for me.

    Added one quart of oil.

Added 6 ounces of Seafoam to the crank case.

Added 13.5 gallons of fuel to the tank.

Work was done over 4 drunken days, just finished yesterday. Got this double switch for the light bar from Amazon that fit pretty well.

And the compressor switch went down unda. Could fit one more next to it in future...

I wouldn't say its louder but it changes the rhythm of the sound if that makes sense. Less of a continuous tone and more of a blublublub rhythm. Mostly at lower rpm.

I was told it's not the age of the fluid but the # of temperature cycles. If it's in a sealed container at a relatively stable temperature it should be fine. So now I keep my open bottles in the house. I haven't noticed any decline in performance by using "old" fluid under those parameters.

I think I should be okay then, because I have a small attached garage that only fits Tundra and it’s been “bed ridden” for two stupid weeks now, the garage has been shut far more often than normal even.

Which is good cause I’ve just started bleeding and the rear line doesn’t seem to have started to leak yet.

I found it like this post-bleed.

    6008FF6A-E167-41EC-939D-3258210FE1BB.jpg

So I’ve cleaned it up and we’ll see if it remains.

    FF69C743-371D-4889-94C0-156EDA846E38.jpg

I also did some “feather dusting” in prep of adding coolant. I didn’t take a before photo, you’ll have to trust it was dirty...she’s low.

Full oil change with OEM toy filter. 6 quarts.
Torqued drain plug to 28 ft.lbs.

Topped off the antifreeze overflow reservoir.

Checked weeping pump. Weep has stopped?

The only thing I have aging, is some gross beer my uncle gave me; which I then serve to him when he’s here......
and some legit mezcal tequila, my sister picked it up on her travels thru oxoca, I think I’ve mentioned the mushroom festival that she went to down there.....

I have some pretty foul beer in the fridge as well, some range flavored crap. I might let it ferment and feed it to my plants.

The harness did what led bulbs do. Stuck on high beam, no fogs, etc. I’m not running the harness on the tundra because of this.

Crawled under and greased driveshaft zerks, inspected the balljoint bolts tightness, and snapped a picture of the Transmission Mount. Does it look collapsed or no? I have no idea what these are suppose to look like when new. No problems with anything driving wise. Anyone? @empty_lord

Mount looks fine. That center piece is just a safety measure of the rubber were to fail so the transmission doesn’t bounce all over hells creation and destroy the motor mounts

Whilst under I conducted an experiment of sorts. Pumped the rear yoke zerk with 5 pumps and removed the zerk. This is what happened in the pic afterwards. I then put the zerk back on and pumped 5 more. Opened and nothing came out. I jumped on the rear and nothing. Put the zerk back on. 5 more pumps and removed. Nothing again even with jumping several times.

Then I pumped it about 12 times. Opened it up and, lo, another strip turdlet the same size oozed out. Looks like that bottom u-joint cap is off kilter? Didn’t notice that until looking at the picture here.

I’ll jump back under before the St. Barts Sunset and put an eyeball on it. I think the ‘cross’ is perfected in the assembly as the shaft is at an angle. I go shake it and report back.

Here is a less sexy angle where our trucks have problems. I’ve been using a few techniques to get oil/grease/penetrator into the overlap arrowed areas for the past 2 years. Not easy. The rust color in the pic looks worse on screen for some reason, but it is there on the welds/overlaps and what I am trying neutralize. Almost have ‘oil saturation point’.
