I can't remember, are you doing a 5sp swap while you have it all apart?

This morning I did new CVs, LBJs, outer TREs, and tire rotation. Didn't need it all, but one CV had a tear in the boot and I could hear it squeaking when the windows were open. New parts that I replace myself definitely worth it for the peace of mind. Still loving the 6112s and Maxx end links. Drove amazing before and drives great now, smooth as can be (smoother than my 3rd gen was). Heading back out to the garage to adjust the parking brake cable and replace the carrier bearing with a new spicer unit, thanks to all the info here on the forum. Props to @Roman and Cool Springs Toyota Parts for the parts and awesome C/S as always

On those lines, do you have a lift?
I am still in debates on going with these since I have a little lift I don't know if I wanna stick with stockers. I also have a failed needle bearing so I've had the ECGS bushing sittin on my shelf looking at me for months:
    OE toyota CVs
    CVJ Reman CVs
Napa MaxDrive or Premium CVs (I have one of these that's brand new that a friend gave to me after selling his tundra)

And do I need to go OE for axle seals or is aftermarket on these ok? Nevermind, OE isn't much more anyways.

    Thats a pretty good idea.
I can only think of two tests for this, either run a K&N dry or oil up a dry filter. If I had the spare time I can imagine rigging an aparatos with abs pipe, a shop vac, and an old airbox

There is only one option. Swap to an 04 motor.

@Tundra2 I went the hidden route. Works pretty well for me and doesn't blind people when I'm too stupid to realize they're on and drive on the streets. Try clamping them there.

Yeah, I've got 6112 front and Icon AAL rear. Probably 2.5" front and 1.25" rear or around there. Nothing crazy. My needle bearings looked good today and I couldn't appreciate any difference in sound between 4x4 and 4x2, so I didn't replace the needles with the bushing. I would recommend OE for most everything. CVJ for CVs if you're wheeling a lot of thinking of a front locker., but otherwise might be overkill. Otherwise, I dont see why Napa wouldn't cut it.

Thinking about a diff drop to give the boots a break... Here's my stance:

It won't throw as far as aiming directly back, but these have stayed safe from road hazards and I like the clean look. If something isn't getting lit up it isn't close enough for me to back into. In that last pic if the bushes and wall were not there it casts light about 3 or 4 car lengths away.

Dude thanks for the videos first off! But second off, if I were you man I would get a beater Camry or some shit and drive that to work.. could u imagine totaling your tundra one day because of these deer? From the volume of these videos im seeing it seems like a highly probable situation. BUT the camry will be a little less safe lol.

    Thanks for the compliment @Pucks18

I drove a 2006 Malibu Maxx for about 3 months. Totalled it via deer. Popped both airbags. This was about a week after news broke about the Takata airbag recalls that were killing people.... I was scared shitless...

I loved that car. It was willed to me by my grandma. It was the last thing I had from her.

Anyways... after that I decided to start driving pop's old truck. I swore to never drive a car on my commute again. My truck sat higher, and I didn't run as high of a risk of deer coming through the windshield... it just made more sense for me at the time. Now I love this truck, and can't imagine totalling it.

I've always kinda morbidly joked with the family that I will die in my truck with both hands on the wheel, or it will die by my hands...

Maybe this "Black Friday season" things may start going my way...:drool:

@Tundra2 I was just about to say your situation requires the full brush guard version Brute Force Bumper. Last black Friday he did have a small sale. I think it was $100 off.

I think I asked before but are those deer whistles some people run effective at all?

My thoughts exactly, the brush guard needs to be full send. Its part of why I wanted to come down and help you with yours.

Four main reasons for my 10 hour round trip down to your homestead.
    1. Meet'n'greet. New friend!
    2. Helped you out.
    3. Lay hands on guard. Feel welds. Observe quality.
    4. See how my truck would look like with a "dark" theme in weighing options on full guard.
Deer whistles were effective when first available. Deer tune them out now like you would an annoying co-worker or 3rd shift tundra-ite....

Im so paranoid about totaling this truck since I totaled my 01 2 years ago... I would literally go through the forest honking my horn to warn off any deer (it might work lol).

    Been there. Done that. Works.

Eventually you get complacent and forget to toot horn. Arm gets tired. Etc.

Or be like me and literally will power the deer away out of pure spite. :rofl:I used to think that worked.

After walking 5 miles a day on concrete, climbing up down Toshiba 397 ton injection presses, crawling under hot mold presses, and answering maintenance calls at work all night.

My feet need the hour long break for the commute home.
