Towed for the first time since installing the rear sway bar last month. Way better handling now. Like there is nothing back there.

Yeah. Had couple buddies buy used Tacos and got rid of them both in less than a year. Too small and under powered. They were jealous of the 02’ V8.

Well, I bought this truck a little more than a year ago at 151k miles and I put on around 20k+ miles so far. When I bought it I never inspected the air filter. So with my 20k+ miles and who knows how long of the previous owner's miles creates this dirt beauty.

Executed the jump mod. Now BOTH map lights turn ON simultaneously with tapping the drivers side switch. The white wire is the jumper that makes it all happen.

Removed the drivers instrument panel to inspect the bulb situation. Ended up just removing the green rubbers from the existing OEM main bulbs (5) that light up the backround. Wanted to see how it looks before investing in more LED bulbs as they are pricey.

The look has significantly brightened by 40% and the color that was once a white (with slight green) has gone to a light orange/peach. Very happy with the brightness. The green rubbers seem to have tarnished to a flat patina which was blocking much light from passing.

Opened up the steering column. Was going to install shifter bushing to potentially stop loose shifter arm. Discovered that is NOT the problem. The cast metal body is inherently a bad design. Tried to tighten up any loose screws/nuts and they are all set in locktight. The play is in the wide tolerances at the joinery of shifter arm and assy base. Nothing can be done here from what I can see. Spent way too much time analyzing this to no avail.

I did, however, grease up the shift slots and the ball slide (pictured). The OEM grease had all been pushed aside from years of use. Now shes lubed up. Much smoother shifting now. Still has play at the arm!

Went under the chasis and greased the transmission cable link at the housing.

Did the rubber butyl and closed cell foam sound enhancement install on the driver side front door. Lots of work and ran out of daylight which prevented doing the pass side. A test of the stereo with balance on full upfront and you can hear a noticable difference between each side.

Couldn't you just hit the on switch to do that? Mine has a door/on switch.

    Edit: NVM it's a door/off switch lol

Yep. Instead of pushing both lights (individually) to turn ON. Now, only the drivers side light needs to be pushed and BOTH lights turn ON.

Also, remember I removed the metal backing on those light lens and now FULL unencumbered light pours through. Loving it on these winter evenings.

Mine is just an eye glass holder. I did, however, years ago velcro an opener up in there. Your console differs from mine as it has that little box inset on the eye glass holder.

They sent me one Apollo 2.0 and one 3.0. I’m gonna have them overnight me the black Apollo 3.0’s so I don’t have to waste time painting them.

Nice. I went with the 2.0, they didn't have 3.0 back then.

I like both but the 3.0’s come in full circle and are already painted black so it’s easier.

Are there little bulbs behind every sign on the dash? My light and fog ligh indicators are no longer lighted when I turn them on. Is it hard to get to the bulbs? Do you think regular stores have the replacement bulbs?

Theres about 30 little bulbs behind the dash that in my truck will be remaining in place unless they burn out. Case in point, my ‘P’ and ‘D’ bulbs were burnt and I replaced them last month.

Today, I went in and removed the green rubbers. Huge improvement. There are like four or five bulbs that constantly light the entire panel guages (not the individual indicators). There is a link on this site (do a search) on the bulbs types, but as far as the instrument panel its a mixed bag once you get in there and open it up. Took me a whole day to wrap my head around just the climate panel and track down the LED bulbs at auto store.

Yes, you can get the bulbs at the auto store. LED or reg incandescent (OEM). Only ones you cannot get are the T10’s and the T-5’s (LED). You order them online in packs.

I could have ordered the ALL bulbs online, but opted to use the more expensive auto store as I was guaranteed to get exactly what was needed and not over order the wrong bulb$$$.

Best thing to do is open up the dash and dive in. It may take a few tries to get everything proper the way you want it, but its worth it.

Continued from yesterday: Removed the neutral ground contact next to the battry in the engine bay. Sanded the contacts and squeezed some no-ox on it all. Reinstalled and wiped down. Neutral contact is very important on vehicles.
