Did you go with E load range? I went with C since I don't do any towing and wanted to save a few lbs. Or it could just be that Tire Rack has the wrong weight on their website for mine.

EDIT-Well, now I'm seeing 58lbs on their website.

Another long day under the hood. Basically at radiator/hoses put back and fan/clutch install.

Torn down the old Alternator. Tow Package Spec says less than 3/16” is NG. My radar was right on this.

Old Fan bracket was shot and grindy. Probably the early morning cold start up noise in the winter. I’ll know more about the fan clutch tomorrow when I put my hands on the new one.

So far I’ve only been missing one bolt (not accomodated for) and thats because the new Accessory Belt Tensioner only has 3 fastener points instead of 4. Was wondering if I missed installing the spare somewhere and its because of the new tensioner not requiring it. This new tensioner has MEGA Tension compared to old one.

Yep. Momba is Impacto Supremo ala Milwaukee 1/2”. I’ll post up pics and reccos of the tools when I’m not worn out from 10 hour days on the truck. Sitting at 20 hours labor right now with 4 more to go. Both garages quoted me 2 days and the would be doing half of the detailed stuff I’m doing.

Whelp, longest oil change of my life, first time on the Tundra. I thought I had overfilled at first, so I then gently drained some. Come around to realize that I just didn't let the oil settle enough on the dipstick. Past vehicles would settle in a minute and I am finding that I need to wait at least 5. So I ended up draining and then having to refill. Quite difficult to read the oil on the dipstick but I consider how clear the oil is a good sign of the engine design. Next time will be quicker.

@Shifty The color temp is a bit off in the 2nd pic. Much more blue, so perhaps it appears to be more dramatically clean?

Anyhoo, I just used a damp microfiber towel and a bucket of soapy water to rinse often.

Tip is to wipe the lightest dirt off first, and work your way to the most grime. The towel is so laden with grease after wiping down the hood, I’ll prob have to dump the towel.

Finished the TB Job. Having never done this before, I was apprehensive to do the first key turn. Like magic she started like nothing happened. Didn’t even miss a beat! Took her on a couple shake down drives and everything works. Every button and light and A/C works. 4WD works. Every bolt and nut was accounted and put back. No extra parts except for the one Bolt not needed on the New Style Tensioner for Accessory Belt.

In total, I have about 30 hours invested into this project.

    1) Timing Belt

    2) Water Pump and Toyota 1282B Sealer

    3) New Alternator (checked brushes and they were about to fail).

    4) New Fan Clutch

    5) New Style Tensioner and Heavy Duty Gates Accessory Belt.

    6) New Radiator

    7) All New OEM Coolant Hoses and Spring Clips

    8) Added a Redundant Ground from Alternator to Battery Negative Post. Conductive Grease at Alternator to Engine Mountings.

    9) Painted Skid Plate.

    10) New Oil Dip Stick at Oil Pan O-Ring and FIPG’d the top grommet.

    11) Added Bottom Rad Fan Cover missing piece.

    12) Prestone Flushed/Cleaned the Cooling System prior to work. 3 Flushes.

    13) Added Foam Seal Strips at Top and Bottom of Radiator entry to facilitate better flow and eliminate hot blow back from engine being recirculated into the radiator area.

    14) New Cam and Crank Seal(s).

    15) Cleaned Throttle Body.

    16) New OEM Neg Post Cap.

    17) New Fan Bracket

She sounds really nice. Not sure if its a combination of things, but the Engine really pulls air now from the front grille. I‘ll post up some pics of the Foam Sealer Trick that definitely makes a difference later tomorrow. A small thing that really helps!

@Professional Hand Model nice work. What tool did you use to hold the fan clutch when tightening those bolts? The ones they rent at advance don't work.

Did you buy one of these?

I did not use a special tool there. I did the double wrench trick. Hold one and loosen. When you get to the last nut, put the one back on backwards and wedge a screw driver in there between the nut flange and fan shaft flute. I also wedged a rubber handle up between the pulleys for that little something extra. The put back is easier than the take off.

Had to get creative on a lot of stuff on this job. Glad to have the Crank Nut, Pulley Removal and Cam Holder Tools. Money well spent ($100ish in total). Otherwise, I’d be still out there working on her. :annoyed:

I have one complaint to voice about your install.

The gates belt is installed backwards to my liking.

    overall, great job!

Nice job! Hopefully you will post all the part numbers in your revival thread!
#13 made me laugh but I get it.
And if it sounds different or sounds like it pulls more air, it’s because it is. That missing fan shroud was supposed to be there for a reason. The fan needs to be able to creat a pressure differential from infront to behind, it can’t(Efficiently) if that missing shroud let’s all the air out the bottom, the mojo that mechanic left you with........

Let me know how long that gates belt stays green
