What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Gooping it up won't help. I would buy the Remflex gaskets if the JBA failed you. You'll need to clean that gunk off though.

Is it just me or is your header cracked between the weld and the flange?

 

Oh it's definitely cracked there. It's like a 1/8th of an inch gap. No idea why it happened, but I think I might schmear some "extreme heat" JB weld over it to seal it. I really don't look forward to pulling the header, but I will if JBA will cover a replacement since I haven't even had it for a year.

I'll definitely look into some remflex gaskets though.

I wonder if I could make something like a bump stop to mount under the basket to keep it from bending like that. Maybe 4 total, placed in the right spots.

 

A piece of diamond plate bolted to the entire bottom of the basket with bedliner would do a great job of adding serious structural integrity and look like a $1k rack

I've never seen a header crack like that, must be some craptastic steel. Seeing that crack reminders me of the boron-infused brittle steel we saw coming out of Chinese production in years past. I thought they stopped doing that after manufacturers were complaining about brittle steel, their products breaking apart, etc.

If they don't warranty that, you need to drop a big post in here warning users. That's absolutely absurd at best for any product to do that, even if it were installed improperly.

 

I replaced the ujoints on my sequoia, not too terrible, but the old ones I had to push in and out a few times to get eh caps to finally release enough that I could get them off. You can't really see it very well in the picutre, but on the top those are little pieces of the old needle bearings that had disintegrated.

Best part, no more vibrations!

 

If the rest of the exhaust isn’t supported correctly this can happen. But typically aftermarket headers are thinner metal

 

That cracked header would be enough to chap my ass real good. Had a buddy who used this term often when he wasn’t pleased with something. ‘That chaps my ass’.

 

Hey everyone, just picked up a 2005 double cab because I never could get my 2006 DC out of my head and regretted selling it everyday since 2011. Anyway, started some small mods/changes today and love the simplicity and build quality of these 1st gens!

DRL/anytime foglight mod and added LED 4500k LED bulbs



LED license plate bulbs



LED door, overhead map, and dome light swap (HUGE improvement)



LED climate swap (still need one more for the left side switches). Not sure if I'm going sand the green off the cluster, though I'd love it to be bright white.



Coming up later this week/weekend: flush mount bumper reverse lights, topper removal, Kenwood receiver, front and rear cameras, JL stealthbox/amp, USB plugs & voltmeter in the lower switch blanks. Soonish/on the way: new wood grain from Roman, retrofits from SouthPaw, & Katzkin interior with heat after I see the wood with the dark interior. I'm thinking something dark grey with a bit of warmth, like Java.

since the clock color cant be changed and the ODO will always be green too this was what i felt would look best. I also have a autodimming rear mirror with a compass thats also green.. so it makes for a good looking interior with the white and green

I need to get the ball rolling on this GX460 brake upgrade. I've got Toyota pads. I just need to pick rotors and calipers. I was hoping to just stick with Toyota but shipping on those rotors was $50+.

Is it 3mm we have to get shaved off the calipers? I need to find a machine shop that will do it.

 

I believe 3mm is correct, @imDementeD can confirm.

Yeah, it's odd because then in post #18 he says 3.5mm

 

Finished the last of the coil packs this morning. And these 3 looked to be the worst. I’m not surprised as they have 206K miles

 

I say this all the time too but I also usually add an inappropriate word between My and ASS!

 

I was pretty sure it said 3.5 but maybe there have been mixed numbers.

I found some "JB Weld Extreme Heat" rated for 2500°F or something like that. I schmeared it over the crack and let it cure. Then I put JB weld muffler wrap over that and cooked it on. It passed the test drive. I hope it holds up long enough to hear what JBA says about my situation.

 

Those wheels look great. I need to sell mine and buy those or the F5's.
