Tried to install the 07-13 tundra steering wheel in my truck only to realize that I will need an airbag, and back cover as well...I’m such a tard sometimes. Guess it’s off to the junkyard soon.

    edit:
The controls are different so I’m sure the plug will be different too! :( this is gonna be more trouble than it’s worth

the airbag should be plug and play. the wheel controls will be a different plug, but you can put the pins into a correct plug easily. ultimately i wish to do the 07-13 tundra wheel swap

Cover is. The connectors are the same. You need the airbag assembly

Ok so I’ve gotta buy a new airbag, and steering wheel controls.

Yes and you will probably have to unpin the wheel controls connector and unpin your original connector. Then put the new steering control pins in the older connector (you will need wiring diagrams!)

I thought you liked the 4runner wheel better? This is still on my to do list, should I change plans and go with the newer Tundra wheel?

Are you bypassing the JBL amp and going straight to the speakers from the headunit?

I haven't done mine yet, just been researching so take this with a grain of salt. I think the small harness you showed is for the steering wheel controls, pin 6 is ground, pin 7 connects to light green/red, pin 8 connects to brown/white with yellow stripe.

On the main harness, pin 1 is 12v, 2 is illumination, 12 is accessory and 20 is ground.

I found a thread with the is document from Crutchfield that's really helpful.

It took me a while. Probably 10 hours spread over two days. It honestly wouldn't have been that hard if I knew what I was doing up front.

Wheel design fits the 1st gen better from a 2nd gen style doesn’t stick out design wise

Gave the ol' girl a wash today. Nothing too crazy, since it'll probably rain again in a day or two. I did notice that my paint job on the grille and that strip below the grille has started chipping and chrome is showing. I need to find a more permanent solution.

    Led strip lights.

The write up is here. I haven't added in all materials I used as this job isn't quite done yet.

Agreed. I think red and white is the worst as far as holding up. Dark green ones are holding up very well too, mine is and so is my neighbors

Red metallics and green metallics are the ones I see most often with clearcoat peel here in the southeast. Usually starting above the windshield first, then the hood, then the bolt-on fender flares. The more horizontal the panel is, the more I see clearcoat peeling.

White holds up great, but it's a different type of paint than the metallics (single stage vs multi-stage). Because solid colors have no clearcoat like the metallics do, owners must seal and wax the paint regularly or the paint chalks. Once it gets chalky, it only takes a quick polish to get it gleaming again.

Decent sample of single-stage correction in in my signature. Black suffers from same, and I think there's also a single-stage grey used between 00-06.

Does it come in gloss so it will somewhat match the paint?

Gotta be a function of the volume knob.

Changed the rear dif and transfer case fluids today. The rear dif fluid looked like dirty water but the transfer case looked fine. When I got up to put away the creeper after the transfer case was torqued up, I heard a "ting." Looked down and saw a washer on the ground. Oh no. Luckily it was for the fill plug and not the drain plug!

Also made a small adjustment on the front/rear brake bias. Didn't notice a difference on a quick drive.
