Filled my power steering reservoir that nearly went empty. Guess the hose clamp trick didn’t fix my leak.

anyone know where I can buy new power steering hoses without OEM prices?

Apparently scan gauge code for trans temp on 05-06 tundras is the same as 05-09 Tacoma’s. I have a reading. No idea which sensor it is. I’ll have to confirm later.

Go to a hose and fitting store and see what they can do?

A shop that does hyradulic lines should be able to make new ones if you take the originals to them. (Steal em off the parts truck)

This is a great option if you have another vehicle to use while the truck is down. I took my hi side AC condenser hose to a local place and had them redo the hose, new orings for 30$

If you're changing your hoses - check the 2 lines on top of the steering rack. Those aren't part of 'the kit', but mine went right after a hard line below the reservoir went. Very annoying to deal with it 2x in 2 months.

4 isn’t bad, maybe the SG takes a bit to level out. Will you share a link or the code sequence?

Checked my power steering fluid levels. Looked good. No leaks at the hoses.

I received my bypass kit for the air pump nonsense. Looking forward to not having to clear out the check engine light with my scanner anymore.

Which paint finish did you use? Looks nice.

The detail in the Toy emblem is a lot of work. Good job.

Just installed the backer rod for the dash rattle. Whoever came up with this idea is a genius. It took me less than 10 minutes and blends in so nicely I can hardly see it. :hattip:

I went with the 5/8th inch.

Just picked up the truck from my local mechanic with a new timing belt and water pump and it's making a squealing sound during acceleration and a softer squeal at idle. When I told him his answer was that antifreeze must have gotten on the serp belt during install and some belt lube might work. It worked, but only as far as it took to get out of the lot. If his assumption was correct will the sound just dissipate over time?

Bought a case of 6 quarts of Toyota Type IV ATF. I used 4 & 1/2 quarts to do a drain and fill on the transmission. Have owned the truck since Feb of 2017 and this is the first time I've replaced any ATF in it after 3 years and 50,000 miles. The fluid that came out looked just as good the virgin ATF that replaced it.

After that, I used the left over 1.5 quarts to do a full flush of the power steering system. The fluid that came out of the PS by comparison looked brown and smelled off/burnt.

I also removed the throttle body and cleaned it thoroughly along with the MAF. My idle was whack afterwards, stuck at 1500 rpms until I disconnected the battery cable and did the idle relearn steps.

Last up came an oil change with Mobile 1 synth high mileage and a Purolator BL30001 filter.

Reminds me of the red light warranty used car guys used to joke about. “As soon as their red brake lights disappear off the lot so does their warranty.”

They're for visibility/style. They don't contribute to your ability to see. Think about the lights on top of semis or DOT trucks, but mounted lower.

I think that's the way it was with the torque app too. I can't remember if I used a Tacoma or 4runner code , but I think it was one of them. I'm guessing the sensor I have is reading the pan because it's generally lower than I would expect to see climbing hills and such the few times I've checked it.

I almost did it, but I have gotten over it fast. Seems like every 4runner with bright headlights, bright "fog" lights aimed in my eyes (3' higher than their headlights), and bigger tires, has the raptor lights. Not sure I want to be associated with that crowd too often.

    I have!

Got mine from Oznium, here's the product:

    https://www.oznium.com/led-bolts-prewired-leds/premium-side-view-led-bolt#photos

Wiring was pretty easy, I simply tapped into the DRL wire on the passenger side since these are accent lighting. I could have also spliced into the turn signal but felt that would be weird. Ran the wires up the strut and across the hood into the grill. Mounting the actual lights only required a hole drilled into the plastic. Unnecessary to increase the fuse size because these are so low voltage, nothing has popped so far.

These accent lights are bright enough to provide a little more visibility to oncoming traffic, etc. And they compliment my LED DRLs. Let me know if you have any questions. :)

That is exactly what i was loooking for, so all you did was drill a hole and stick them in there? how did you mount them, did you screw them on or use glue?

Glad to help! That's precisely it. Match the bolt part up to your drill bits and find the size that's snug (I don't remember what it was). The light pokes into the hole and is secured tightly with the nut.

Whether you want two, three, or more is up to you!
