Yeah I only use it while camping in the summer. I’ll probably paint it while I have it off and then just keep it on in the summer and hunting season. My old Tacoma canopy was probably around 150ish I’m not sure what this one weighs in as but 2 grown men struggled to get it off and I felt emasculated lol.

LOL, that will teach me to assume stuff on a used truck is stock. Just pulled the old mirror out and looked again. It was a Gentex auto-dimming :) So I have to revise my original statement. If, someone, at some point, as installed a Gentex mirror in your truck, it is easy to replace with another Gentex!

You had a non factory auto dimming mirror? Crazy. If my tint didn't make everyone elses lights useless I'd be trying to get you to sell it to me. My 06 has the temp and compass on the map light thingy anyway.

Apparently not. Looks like someone had installed a Gentex auto-dimmer before, just one without a temp and compass readout. That explains the perfect connector fit!

My '06 came with an auto-dimming mirror but I replaced it with a reverse camera mirror (which is also auto-dimming). The bottom is factory -

Bolted up some loose exhaust cover/heat shields that had lost some of the original bolts in the life of my truck, replaced a lock lever mechanism on the passenger access door, lubed up the door handle mechanism, and fixed the passenger quarter glass latch.

I had absolutely no idea that these trucks came with auto darkening rear views. Interesting.

Off. Your truck will be peppier. Your wheels look brand new! Good job on them. Lots of work, but worth it. Did you use the gloss clear coat?

I have an astro cap/shell that I plan on putting back on eventually. I need some parts for it including the rear glass. Anyone have any information regarding the ASTRO brand? Or steer me in the right direction?

Google, and bing only bring up A.R.E or ATC.
Not a single hit for Astro, unless you're talking legitimate campers like RV style.
I guess pops bought an "odd" brand when he got the shell.

They sell toppers & the only similar brand is ATC which -might- mean Astro Truck Caps.

That looks very similar to the one I removed. Is it branded Toyota? Or have a Toyota part number printed on the back? Just wondering if it was a dealer or port install and they were using Gentex.

Donnelly is stamped on the back. I’ll post pics in a bit. I’ll look for a number and I’ll refer to my paperwork; pretty sure it’s listed as an installed option. But will dbl check.

seems ATC is made in Kansas City, Kansas & that's 30 minutes up the highway from Olathe.
I think ATC is your answer if you find an old-timer there.

That's mostly why I tinted my windows and also why I hate anyone with glaring fog lights on or that doesn't have projectors now. If I can drive past a minivan without blinding then through their side mirror then anybody with decent lights can do it. My headlights are pointed way up compared to most stock vehicles, but the sharp cutoff means it only blinds traffic if I want to or if I hit a big dip and my truck points up.

I know tundras dont have cabin air filters but where does the air come from? When I turn the air on it smells like wet dirt and it is unpleasant. Where would I clean to get this to go away?

Air enters the cowl between your wiper blade pivots and goes to the pass side duct behind the glove box. It then enters your ‘filter’ which is a hard to reach A/C access coil inside the assy box. I say filter because it catches all kinds of ‘stuff’ even though its not a true filter. Here is a pic of mine. Since cleaning she smells like essence of roses and potpourrí. No more under funk essence of wetness from South Coast Rainforest smells.

Went out and tested the Meguiars Compound on a few test spots. Here is a before and after shot. There is no wax on the finished area. I just wiped it clean. Swirled some compound on and buffed it out. The depth of finish is huge. The bigger scratches diminished in half and the smaller ones disappeared!

Where EXACTLY are these connectors to tie the reverse signal into? I"m in the middle of an install, and for the life of me, I cannot find these two. I guess I'm not getting where "right by the airbag is"...in the dash near the passenger airbag? And what type of pin do I need to connect the wire to that plug?

Also check to make sure your drains are free and clear of obstructions, that stanky gym sock smell is common due to clogged drain( stuff starts growing, ITS ALIVE!!)

Good call on this. I put a towel under the drip exit to see what I could catch draining out when I sprayed that coil off with a hose. It was nasty!
