I think that's the reason it's difficult today.

Crawled under the 02 yesterday to inspect Bearing/Axle job. Everything looks like it was put back into place and cleaned up nicely. Will drive it a few more days and do some rear shoes brake service. I have new shoes and want to buy new Toy brake cylinders.

Should I buy new spring kits? Turn my old OEM rotors at shop?

    Never done brakes before.

New drum stuff is cheap enough I just replace it all. But mine was garbage anyways. You can get the drums turned anywhere.

Thanks. The online Toy parts is pricey on the separately sold springs/etc. I’ll call stealer this week, to see if they have an OEM Kit, and price them out. I definitely will be buying new OEM wheel cylinders.

OEM is always more. RA has the kits you need, and reputable brands.

Thanks for this. I want OEM cylinders for sure. You guys think the NAPA springs kit (pictured) is good with proper fitments and parts?

You said you were looking all over for a project and you like step sides. Plus it's in the south which means a clean frame no rust.

Strange. I've never had an issue with titles in Texas. One party signs (I honestly don't recall which) one takes the title.

    Napa springs are fine

Have the drums turned. Aftermarket drums are a noisy nightmare

RHD specialties out of Charlotte is importing the shit out of them now that the 25 yr rule permits importation of R33s without DOT, EPA, etc. We have a bunch of R32 & 33s running around NC as well as other imported cars that fall under that 25 yr rule.

A lot of people actually have figured out how to register vehicles in TX, TN or other lax states so they can essentially drive race cars on the st.

Thanks. This confirms a few readings I’ve done. Best to use the factory drums. Mine still have the counter balance weights on them.

Those Powerstop drums (and others) have horrible reviews.

Whats your take on a rear drum shoe cylinder rebuild? They have OEM rebuild kits (cups/springs) for around $23.

@KarmaKannon if my double sheer Heim joint doesn’t work out,I might have to order that 4xinovations hinge kit, because now I’m stuck trying to figure out a good open/close stop

Looks good! The only thing I'd caution is maybe leaving a little Gap in the inside corner of the gusset for water and mud to escape.

A company already tried a dual double shear heim set up for a swingout hinge, it wasn't too sturdy.

Ok. Got it. I’ll do a rebuild kit on the rear cylinders. Might buy the front kits just for grins, too.:D

Then do a DOT5.1 fluid swap.

If the mount is strong I see no reason heims wouldn't work. They seem to do a good job holding my tire and knuckle straight.

I hope so. Just know from what I've seen it doesn't work as well as a true one direction joint.

Two hiems in double shear and on the same pivoting axis are a one directional joint with adjustable legs.

No that wasn't the issue at all its the vertical axis when opening the gate they drooped inherent to the design of that joint.
Kinda it still drooped a little until bind. They had to adjust them so that one was "pulling" the other "pushing" from the joint. What 4x sells as well as the spindle style work better for a swingout. But if you can accomplish it the awesome.

I would be interested in seeing this bearing setup that has literally no play in it. Might not be so good if you have any movement during welding(because it wouldn't be adjustable like hiems), but it would be impressive nonetheless.

Hot water heater passed away today. Bought a new one, brought the Tundra to the pickup area & parked next to a 4dr 1st gen.
Had to remove my trifold for it to fit. Need an 8' bed or taller bed sidewalls. Canoe needs taller sidewalls too.
Of course the heater gave up on a Sunday, & Monday is a plumbers holiday. guess I'll be making hot water on the stove top Monday.
But the Tundra is spot on.

I recently replaced our dead water heater and the dying radiant heat water heater. With a Navian boiler and a indirect water heater for domestic.... that was fun.
