It's all good. I'll figure it out using your estimates as a starting point. Thanks.

In addition to those grease points on the steering column I discussed the other day, it pays to do the transmission shifter arm/lever area as well.

Nice looking 4runner...I'm regretting selling my 96 4runner. If it's 4x4 PM the details.

Tell me Fred if you will, what about concerns of getting sand and grit embedded in the grease at those points? Seems to me that a thinner lubricant applied frequently would be preferable as it would be less susceptible to picking up and holding the grit. Not meant as an arguing point, but rather a point of discussing the merits of each view.

Daylight pics. She still needs some minor adjustment and trimming but good for now.

Looks good Jon! What sort of adjustments can you make?

Are you able to close this gap at all?

Yeah I need to buy the bolts for the side mounts. That should raise it a little

If you're off-roading, some gap would be good so the trim doesn't get smashed if the bumper moves into it.

Nah just make it line to line and let it work it's way in. Rule 67 of the desert: all things that don't fit, will fit if they are allowed enough time to fight it out.

I would, but if the trim gets so loose it will flop around while driving and would need to be fixed, so why not some ounce of prevention. Again, depends how hard off-roading will be.

Considering I've only taken it off road once in the 14 months I've had the truck I think it'll be ok. I do eventually want to do more off roading but right now this is my DD, there's not any decent off roading on the south coast, and I don't get vacation days at work yet.

The pictured part numbers above are for the bolts for 2000-03 front bumpers. You make the call on which ones.

Not much concern. Thats about a years worth of road grime and island sand driving on that pic. A light oil would work, but the moly-b is doing the trick. Its very waterproof.

I just wonder if a good silicone spray now and again would be effective without picking up the grit. Likewise I wondered about powdered graphite but I fear it would be washed away soon from the wet road spray. A boot of sorts would be nice were one able to fabricate something. Now that you have pointed out this area, I do see the desired need to work the problem.

My lever was a bit crusty from never being lubed. The grease lube satisfied the general thirstiness of the metal and surface rust. Silicone spray wouldn’t have ticked those boxes.

Did you order the plugs they recommended in the manual? If not, curious what you went with. I'm coming up on 30k on this set.
