Kinda figured, the kind of people that take calculus classes for fun usually aren't the kind of people that know how to turn a wrench.

Oh it's fun in my classes. My intro to engineering class was a breeze. I'm already a master electrician so I brought plans in for the kids to look at and knew most of what was taught. Still a fun class though.

Anyone ever had issues with their blower motor? Is it common to start squealing if they are going out? The video doesn't do it justice. It's worse in person.

I've had to take apart and clean & lube nearly every one I've had. Not difficult. You'll need a long straw & some good spray oil. I like LPS #2. It has a strong odor so just a few drops. You might also try 3in1. Both the motor & the blower bearings

Wrestled with the taillights. Old ones came out easy, I was hoping to use the existing harness with new lenses but one socket did not fit. I swapped my old bulbs into the new housings and went under to check out the wiring. Looks like one button connector but theres enough mud and sand under there to be a pain. It is dark outside and this can wait for tomorrow. I'll take some pics in the daylight.

I washed it and used my new shop vac to clean out the interior. My truck hasn't been this clean in ages. :)

Tire rotation and read diff fluid are on the menu for tomorrow. Just finished the tail lights. The connector is a serious bitch.

There is a harness connector that is part of the truck, it has the button you need to press and pull away from the other connector. The connector that is part of the light harness is clipped to the frame, I couldn't get an angle to unlock that clip. It would be easier if the side with the button was stationed to the frame and the part you have to pull was free. The bastard engineer who made this happen is probably friends with the one who made our pinch welds hit tires so easily.
    :bananadead:

So I got tired of that real fast and ripped the stationary clip out apart, totally destroyed it. :muscleflexing: That got the plugs into a position I could work with. I beat the plugs with a screwdriver to get all the dirt out, there was a LOT. Channel locks are my friend for the button, got the connector out and sprayed the dirt out with electrical cleaner. Got it connected and bolted in. I'm looking for my zip ties now to substitute the clips I obliterated.

This is where the stationary clip attaches to the connector
    20190828_192214.jpg

This is what's left of those clips
    20190828_194042.jpg

This is the business end, the single button you have to push down to release the connection, then pull.
    20190828_192251.jpg

You get what you pay for, these look okay but don't fit nearly as good as original. $45 for the pair beats $250 though, they'll do for now.

Looking good. Now get some black spray paint and do those rear hubs. It'll take a whole 2 seconds per side and improve the look 10 fold.

Do we have a mod in the first gen section? I've seen a lot of really good sticky worthy threads fall off and get forgotten. Can we vote on it or something? Like post a stickied thread that someone can recommend a thread be stickied and the likes are the votes? Just wondering.

Agreed, something like what TS had. One thread up top so that the stickys dont get all cluttered and within that thread the very first post is constantly updated with threads that should be stickied.

I like simplicity. The old tails are reminiscent of the old pickup and taco tails which is cool. But I love the red clear lights on the later models because they remind me of the T100 tails and the 3rd gen T4R tails. Plus I had depo red/clears on my 99 taco. And the late model gx470s and lx470s have red/clear

Having a current mod put a "vote for sticky" type thread and start stickying threads. @because_wumbo-truck yeah, that's one of the threads that needs to be. And the interior lights, part numbers, LBJ info, new owner info, rear breather stuff, the rear end thread, "what tires....", lift info, the list goes on and on.
